I have to tell you this. My husband rarely notices/comments on my makeup. But last week we were out for our anniversary and he said “Your eyes look nice. It’s like that Swedish KZbinr you like, but not as pa-pow.” (Which is fair; I don’t usually have the guts to go as colorful/dramatic as you!) I just thought it was so funny he referenced you! 🤣

Info on Pompei and the Vesuvio's eruption: back in the day people didn't know it was a volcano XD they just thought it was a quite fertile mountain (they had fields up there). When smoke began to come out of the mountain many people actually fleed the city. I think the smoke was toxic, even tho I'm not sure, but this would mean many died before the actual eruption. The effective explosion happened something like two days later and it was so destructive that everyone still alive practically died on the spot. Ancient Romans wrote about that a lot, as I said, the explosion was so huge they could see it from kilometres. There is an important Roman naturalist of the time called Pliny the Elder, who was near Pompei at the time and described the different phases of the eruption. Sorry for the wall of text but I'm from Naples, by now I know this story by memory XD Your makeup is great as usual! 😊

Thank you for filling in the blanks. I was able to visit Pompeii and Mt Vesuvius when I was little. They are entire cities and I remember crying from all the walking (I was 6yo). I would love to visit again as an adult with my kids.

America has a poopy public transit system in comparison to Europe- I can’t speak for Italy but NY’s traffic can be so annoying and even dangerous! I daydream visiting Sweden and being able to walk everywhere without worrying about a stray car trying to beat a red light! Welcome back, hope your travels were relaxing and romantic with Ricardo! looking forward to your second travel vlog💕💕💕💕

American here - I totally agree about the car thing. The three times i.visited Europe it was was different and honestly preferred it. It's nice to walk around without traffic - easier to appreciate what's around. Wish we had better public transport but here in the Midwest everything is too far apart.

I’m from the Midwest too. I think part of the problem is people don’t use transportation we do have like Amtrak. If people don’t use the train they won’t expand the train system. My brother has taken Amtrak from SC to CA in one trip and loved it.

I think the fact that Pompeii was buried under several meters of pumice and ash probably meant that it would have been a massive task to uncover the town and move back to it. It would also have meant that the farmland was unworkable, so there would have been no way to supply the town with local food. The infrastructure, roads and port would also have been destroyed/buried so no travel between towns and no fishing. I can understand that it would have been more feasible to relocate to another, established, town. So lovely to have you back, super glad you and Ricardo had a lovely belated honeymoon.

The city of Pompeii was dying before the eruption. They had what they thought was a super modern water piping system. The pipes unfortunately were made of lead. Without the eruption the entire city would likely have been dead within a year anyway. I was with a study group in Pompeii back in 2014 and there was a pack of about 8 dogs that lived inside the city. The employees said the dogs would pick a different person from a tour group everyday and stay with them the whole day. We were there for about a week and they met me at the gates every morning and never let me out of their sight until I left. I often think about them and wonder if any of them are still there.

My guy always shops with me too! He actually likes it more than I do 😆 He loves helping and seeing different things and understanding they whys of different products and fashion. He writes a lot and I often see the reflection of myself teaching him about the...rituals?? of being a woman in his stories. He is also an artist so he is so much help in the playing of colors together and seeing the lines of a garment and understanding how it will work with my other clothes etc. So unlike my ex-husband who could barely tell the difference when I asked which whatever looked better xD He just thought i looked good no matter what, which is awesome but the added eye of my partner now is so much help!

I am finally starting to travel a bit more (pandemonium not withstanding) around the US at now 28.. Growing up vacations were camping at the small state park 45 minutes away, nothing much more than that because it was not in our budget. I’ve been slowly increasing the number of places I’ve been, and with travel comes the comfort and expertise of handling traveling, and the goal is to eventually make it to Europe at some point in the next 4 years before my partner’s milestone birthday. Neither of us have ever left the country!

I feel the same way: it is so interesting to see how we live and by that I mean to be aware of what we take for granted. And it helps to visit other countries where things are different. This awareness is important because we might want to rethink and change one thing or another or not and it makes us realise how lucky we are. When you talked about all the road traffic: How many cars per family are common in Sweden? In Austria we have car-free zones in the city centres or in shopping streets, but 1-2 cars per family have become common in the last decades. We have a lot of road traffic with all its disadvantages, but at the same time a very well-developed public transport network.

Hearing you talk about Times Square helped me realise why it confused me so much when I was there!! We got there and I couldn't put my finger on it but I didn't think it was anything special and it just looked like any other street in NYC to me. Now I realise it was because I expected there to be no cars! Where I live we have the same thing where city centres don't have cars and so it would be an obvious and distinct place but because it wasn't as I expected to me it was just exactly the same as every other part of NYC.

I feel like I can talk to almost anyone now because we’ve probably been somewhere in common, and I’ve learned so much about other places and myself. I also love this Jaguar palette so so so much! As far as I know, Pompeii was completely buried, so the whole city had to be excavated (thousands of years later, so sometime in the 1800s or 1900s?) rather than being ruins in the sense that they fell apart and decayed over time. The volcanic ash preserved the city in a moment of time, so its all still there. And that’s also why the shapes of the people were found as spaces, like bubbles in concrete, so they had to be filled with plaster like a mould. The human remains were basically trapped in their moment of death and decayed within the space, leaving a hollow chamber shaped like the body. Anyway, that’s what I remember - but I didn’t bother to even read a Wikipedia page before posting this comment so I’m sure someone else could explain it better lol

Hey beautiful! Welcome back! Oh wow, I did not realize that Ricardo was (at the very least) tri-lingual, that's amazing! Does he speak any other languages? Anyone who knows more than 1 language immediately gets my admiration.. I've tried so many times to try and learn at least the basics of another language but it never sticks. Now, when it comes to my daughter.. she is like a sponge.. absorbs and retains other languages SO freaking easily! I'm super jealous! 😂 Also, so happy that you finally got to go on your honeymoon/vacation and had a great time.. you haven't even put makeup on yet and you have this like.. ethereal *glowy* aura about you! It's well deserved, too! Thanks for the (as usual) awesome content, Angie!

I feel you with the thoughts on the Pompeii ruins. I haven't been there yet, but I remember when I visited ruins of a Roman city in Andalucia - Baelo Claudia - even though they are still much smaller. Unless you visit them and see them in person, you don't really realize how big these places were and that there were actually people living there at some point in time. ;) Pompeii is definitely on my bucket list - I'm a big fan of sightseeing whenever I'm able to travel ;)

I've been looking for a glowy powder foundation for sooooo long (literally years, trying a bunch of them, wasting a lot of money)... I finally bought the Laura Geller Balance & Brighten and Balance & Glow, and they are such a nice combo! And the lightest shade actually works on me, for once. A few people here had recommended it, and I'm so glad I finally gave it a shot. 😭 I've been trying it over the past few days, and truly... New favourite. It's so pretty. I've been using Brighten on my T-zone, and Glow everywhere else. It's ACTUALLY glowy. And doesn't look dry, and doesn't kind of crack where my laugh lines are, and I can't feel it on my skin, at all. 👌🏻 I love a powder foundation, for 2 reasons. 1) It's so easy and quick that I can basically close my eyes and blend it all over, and I'm done in like 45 seconds. It always looks good, because they usually can't be built up past a certain point (like medium, max). 2) Because I have to use a powder foundation over the primer I use on my nose (Tarte Timeless Smoothing Primer, to fill in pores). Liquid or cream foundation tends to move it, or look really cakey and obvious, but powder over it looks great. 👍🏻 I can really use any matte powder over it, but I still bought the Balance one, for reasons. But the Glow is totally what I was looking for! I'm so happy to finally have a good match in a powder foundation! 😭 I tried sooooooo many.

I love the the L'ABSOLU ROUGE INTIMATTE in 130 NOT FLIRTING, 525 SEXY CHERRY, 276 TIMELESS APPEAL, 282 VERY FRENCH, & 169 LOVE RENDEZ-VOUS! They’re only sold on the on Lancôme’s website, in the US. When I saw that shade, I had to have it, and I went on a little spree. 😏

When the Vesuvius erupted, it was pretty sudden and immediately impactful. The thing is that the ashes and the rocks spewed out by the volcano would be very hot and, as they cooled down, they hardened. So recovering the bodies and the whole town would have been a logistical nightmare and almost impossible. The amount of time, effort and resources it would take probably made it so that those in charge back then decided not to engage in that endeavor. In any case, Pompei was pretty widely mentioned by philosophers and scholars back then, but it was forgotten.

I had the sameee feeling about my last trip to Italy. 2h traffic 11pm around Firenze, I said almost midnight. Napoli is needless to say. Messy and so lovely at the same time 🤩 Pompeii, omg I walked there for 6 hours and We could not finish. It is astonishing impressive how it remained that intact especially the Afrescoes 🤩

Kiko..longwear intense eyeliner it has a smudging tip on one end.... best.eyeliner.ever... also their eye crayons are the best and so long wearing on my almost 50 year old eyes. I have MFE and LH eye pencils and they do not compare to the Kiko products. ..wonder if Dynessa Myrick (sp) sorry..would consider an eye pencil, crayon?? Anyway, Im so glad for your safe enjoyable travels to Italy..gr8 memories Im sure, your Riccardo sounds absolutely wonderful, enjoy this time..its so special. Love your reviews saucy lady, lol and thank you. 💞💞🥰👑

When you say you spray the eyeshadow... are you spraying the brush after you pick up the eyeshadow, or do you spray the brush before you pick up product?

I imagine a volcanic disaster like that would have made the surrounding terrain void of life for a pretty vast area around it. Even the ash fallout further away than the city may have blocked enough sun to kill foliage. I'm not an expert in that field though, just some thoughts. I'm guessing people in the region had bigger issues than what to do with a barren city.

Oh my gosh so funny you talking about American Traffic. I like in American in Oklahoma (in the middle of no where). Our County is about the size of Rhode Island (the state) and we only have like 4000 people and not a single stop sign lol.

I hate high traffic areas. I'm too scared to drive in traffic. I live in an area where you have to have a car to get anywhere but the roads are usually pretty open because it's not city.

Glad you had a wonderful honeymoon!!! Want to see Pompii so bad. They lived there for the soil. They knew it could blow but did not know the signs of a coming eruption. So they never started to evacuate. Just like people take the calculated risk with better odds of living/visiting now. There is one dude they don't show who was masturbating when he died. I think we can all identify with him. Might well go out with a smile on your face!!! 🤣😂🤣 Take care and have fun!!! 😷😎😷
