Same here in France about no drugstores and lower-end brand prices. That's why Kiko changed everything and pretty much ate up the entire cosmetics market when they set up here about a decade ago... NYX also to a lesser degree, although I find that NYX prices have gone up a lot lately. To me, Kiko do everything right - pleasant shops with nice, helpful staff, frequent collections and frequent promotions, considering that even at full price, the products are pretty reasonable and pretty solid quality :)

As an old lady with super dry skin I have to tell you, the tarte rainforest of the sea face foundation and concealers are a blessing. They make my skin look so much better and healthy. The concealer is about the only one I have found that doesn't make my under eyes look like a desert. I get why people may not agree with me though. I'm not a fan of morphe, their eyeshadow palettes almost all look the same and the quality is eh at best, but I can't deny I do like their brushes. I don't normally buy from them though, for more reasons than just quality.

I enjoyed this video concept. Based on budget I have to ensure what I’m buying is what I really need or want. Sometimes with these brands you have to buy so many things to find that one good thing just as you said about makeup revolution
@Acidfunkish3 жыл бұрын
I get this. I used to buy like $100 worth of ELF and makeup revolution or drugstore brands, online, and then be so disappointed in at least 2/3 of what I got. It was either that, or spend like $20-40 on shipping to Canada. 😒 I'd rather spend $100 on something I know I'll like and actually use a LOT, or somewhere that allows returns. 😣 You really have to weed through some brands, to find the few things that actually work, unfortunately. I kinda wish more brands (especially NYX) would just discontinue things that aren't reviewed very highly. Some of their ranges are getting too ridiculous, and they always seem to discontinue things just because they haven't gone viral, after a couple years. 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️ No. Just get rid of things with like 2.5* and below! Above that can be left to personal preference, a lot of the time... But if something has a rating of like 2, it's very fair to say it's just bad.

Shape Tape original is the absolute best for spot concealing, IMO. You can buff over it without it completely disappearing, like most concealers. 😣 And even when I do undereye concealer, I put only a tiny tiny dot on my brush, and do a single line where my shadow falls, blending up. If you use a tiny, tiny amount, it works really well. The tube lip masks from Tarte are so good, and they smell amazing! ❤️ I def recommend getting the sampler pack, if it comes back for the holidays. The Colour Riche Shine is one of the first lipsticks L'Oréal came out with that WASN'T that awful powder rose scent. 😭 I cannot handle that. It's really similar to the Jouer lip balm scent. I find it repulsive.

I can relate to price gouging.. here in Australia all the drugstore brands are super expensive and only worth purchasing when they go for 50% off. Most of our highend brands are monopolised by a place called Mecca, meaning that we can't buy them from any other store, in person or online, so they tend to rack up the prices too, and they never do sales.

1) Would you consider doing a video ranking your favorite eyeshadow formulas? I know you love ND, BH, JP, and Oden's (and others), but I'd love you to rank them together. I love BH and JP, plus I'm in the USA, so trying the expensive ND or the international shipping of Oden and your other favorite formulas intrigues me but I keep asking myself whether the spend is worth it when comparing to my favorite JP and BH. (Note...I have all JP eyeshadows ever released except for the 4 pans that were limited edition a year or so ago. I have 3 BH palettes and am slowly buying more based upon your previous recommendation) 2) Tarte... This brand isn't for me either, however, their blushes are fabulous. 3) Morphe... Years ago you recommended the M506 and M507 for detailed eye work, and I still use them and love them. You had said you didn't love the quality but that there weren't better quality brushes to use instead. What have you replaced them with? Haha, yeah, when I was in Sweden, in Stockholm back in 2019 I couldn’t find a single drugstore, I was pretty upset, cuz I wanted to compare what’s cooking in Sweden as I live in Latvia, the other coast of the Baltic Sea. We literally have a huge chain of drugstore brand here, so, it was hard for me and my friend to understand where do Swedes get all the makeup and other stuff. 😆 Luckily, we found Kicks, which reminded us of our Douglas store chain, where you can find a bit of everything, I would even say more of high ended class than typical drugstore, so, was glad to take smth home what would be, like, hey, I bought this in Sweden, cuz I can’t get it in Latvia. 😆 But, yeah, this update info for me is super cool, next time I’ll be in Sweden I won’t try to look for the places Sweden don’t have and will go straight forward to Kicks. 😆 P.S. I totally agree on every word about Revolution Makeup. Got a lot of palettes, cuz affordable and stuff, and I liked highlighters I bought in our drustore, but, yeah, it was eventually a pass for me. Except for those baked highlighters and baked blushes. Those are good. 👌🏻

In my part of Europe, we have pretty good choice of L'Oreal everything. Infallible foundations and concealers are even KZbin famous, while the sheer lipstick you mention is not my favourite (I remember Tati hyped those and I wanted to try them; big disappointment!) The classical Color Riche lipsticks are very comfortable, hydrating, pigmented, and they smell nice. As for drugstore, we also have a lot of Bourjois, but I like only their glosses. Lipsticks have that chemical smell that I just hate. Those little round blushes are nice, but they're too firmly pressed so they're hard to apply. The thing with drugstore is that those products are too often hit or miss. And when you buy 4 lipsticks before you've guessed the right one for you, you could have just bought a high end one and be done.

It depends, from what I can see Essence changes the catalogue according to location, so it's not just a matter of deadlines. Most products I see US KZbinrs review were/never sold here and I'm in Europe. It may be just the case of my country, of course, but even when I check retailers from other countries in the continent they're not to be seen. Like recently Essence dropped 6 mini palettes in the USA, in my country only 4 are available and Essence confirmed to me the other 2 won't be available here.

I feel the same way about tarte but at the same time I really enjoy a lot of their products. It’s purely visual image that turns me off to them. They have a really nice skincare line and I think their makeup is modeled after the same idea of if you want moisturized, thin, dewy use the rainforest of the sea line. If you want full matte coverage use the Amazonian clay line. I’ve tried 2 of their foundations (rainforest and foundcealer) and enjoyed them. I have also tried 2 of their concealers (shape tape and Amazonian) and thought they were okay. Same for the eyeshadow (tarteist pro remix) formula; it was okay. Their mascara (lights camera) is pretty good. But I really love their lip products. All of the ones I’ve tried have been great. The glossy liquid lipstick, their glosses, their metallics: They’re all some of my faves. Their chrome pot eyeshadows are also gorgeous. Every so often, like twice a year, they do a custom box where you can pick 6 products for like $65 and that’s a good way to try a variety of products (I think it’s actually a full face’s worth) for a smaller price. I wasn’t interested in tarte either but I tried their custom box and that how I discovered their good products that I keep repurchasing now. I feel the same way about pretty much all of your picks too.

I'm meh on Morphe, BUT I LOVE the Coke collabs (I recently got the Cherry Coke palette and it is gorgeous with reds and fuschias that are unique)

I love pastels and cute packaging so I love Too Faced packaging, one of my favorite brands aesthetically. They’re still a brand I am bored of because their eye shadows are so basic tho.

Here's the thing: I don't care about brands that market to a more cutesy, juvenile audience. Not for me, but whatever, do what you do. Nor do I care about brands that take a much more "adult themed" (hyper-sexualized) approach. Not for me, but whatever, do what you do. Where I start to care a LOT, in a negative way, is when a brand goes for both audiences. And that's where Too Faced loses me to the point where I don't see myself ever supporting them. I find them way too creepy.

Please please try more Essence and Catrice! Catrice has this foundation that has been trending/going viral lately and I would love to hear your thoughts!

I would cite Too Faced and their concealer too. Just like you I have zero attraction to the brand, for the same reason, I think it's just not for me. But I received a sample of the concealer, and since I'm always on the hunt for a good concealer I tried it and was so impressed I immediately bought it lol ! I also have the highlighter palette, Turn up the light or sth like that. Bought it after many recommendations. It's nice, good quality, but not my favorite, and too pricey.

Essence and Catrice would be interesting, maybe a full face of each type of video. Here in Hungary Rival loves me got popular lately from the "drugstore" ones. And Angie, have you ever tried Oriflame products? It's Swedish, and I'm curious about your opinion about them in general. I like their foundation, primer and setting spray, but to be honest, it is a bit pricey here, I think it's more expensive than L'Oréal for ex. but I'm nut sure it's better.

I'd love to see you review Essence! I can actually get it here in latin america, but we get the collections that are available in europe and not the ones that go to the US. I'd love to hear what you think of their products! My brand is almay. They're boring in eye products and have pretty bad ranges in complexion products, but their lip vibes lipsticks? Beautiful!

Hi Angie, I highly recommend for you to try the nars natural radiant foundation, I think it could be very similar to the natasha denona foundation X+ 😊

I think you might love the Age Perfect Radiant Serum Foundation from L'Oreal...I do not know why its called radiant. On me its a nice satin matte finish and its GORGEOUS. Its a nice medium coverage and its skin like and it does well with being set or not being set. Its a great one.

I LOVED the too faced concealer but my biggest issue was that it consistently broke me out 😩 it’s such a forbidden fruit of a product for me

@@AngelicaNyqvist Just finished watching. Agree with these, not brands I keep up with. My wishlist from a brand I'm not using is a blush from Charlotte Tilbury. Haven't pulled the trigger, as they are expensive and I don't know which would suit my skin the best. Thinking Pillow Talk or First love. Waiting to see if I can get some sort of discount on it though. Her face products seem lovely, but that price tag has me crying 🥲

Makeup Revolution has one of my favorite highlighters (the peach one) and they're coming out with a Simpsons collab that I will be getting some of those items just for the Simpsons theme. I definitely agree that they have a lot more misses than hits. I'm also getting the Tarte blush kit that they're putting out for holiday because I swatched their blushes in store and I liked them, plus I can give some to my friends for Christmas

@@BeantownMrs yesss! The Nevermore episode is my favorite (I have a tattoo of the crow Bart) so I want that and the Maggie palette. My husband and I call our cat Maggie (her name is Minerva) because she has a balance problem and falls over a lot like Maggie so I'll have to get that palette too. Even if they're not the best quality, I love the theme
