Nice tips of slow bolting spinach variety, I love iceberg lettuce, but I agree, they rot in no time in rainy weather and are a waste of time. Thank you for doing an update! It’s really nice to see what you’re doing and it’s also super helpful to see what’s working and what isn’t. I’d love to watch a video with details about seeder & rollers that you’re using. I’d like to try beets as transplants instead of Jang seeding. I watched a green onion seeding video by Willy a few years ago and have done them as sets since then and I’ve had great results too. This year I planted the onions into tubs instead of soil blocks and that didn’t work out as well. Great idea doing a lot of storage crops for winter sales. Your storage onion field is gorgeous and you’re really improving your program. Continued good luck to you! Sorry that my comment turned into a book 😄

Hi Ryan Wow what an update, that was one of the best entertaining updates I have seen on youtube for ages. You must be doing around 14 /15 hours a day. Yep our William knows his onions, I been multi sowing spring onions and beetroot for years, same as my dad used to do them but we have time to be selective when we harvest them as where you as a professional need to harvest all at same time. I like growing onions as you have seen and my big ones are around 18" round at the moment. Allotment growing is far different than growing on your scale. And don't worry about getting back to people as we all know you're very busy. If you talk to William send him my regards. And looking forward to your next live stream when you can find the time. Cheers mate, take care look after yourself and family. 👍👍👍👍👍👍🧄🧄🧄🧅🧅🧅🧅🧅🧅

Thanks for replying to my earlier comment. This video is great because i had the same idea with onion but couldn't find anyone until you that confirmed it worked this well. But i have questions that i hope you can help with; how many grams of onion seed do you use per 1020 tray, and how deep do you plant them? My trials this year planted 2 trays 1/1, 5-6 grams each, shallow planting- onions up in 5 days and having so many fall and not grow well that i needed to trim. then planted 2 trays 2/1, 14 grams each, between 1/4 and 1/8 in deep starting to see onion 2/11. So i'd really appreciate if you could tell me roughly how many grams per tray and how deep you plant them. Thank you.
@Mrsnufleupagus2 жыл бұрын
Hey pal!! I have all of our seeded already for this year. I did about 800 per 10/20 tray. and simply weighed the full pack of 5000 seeds and used roughly one fifth of the bag. Seemed to me to be 5-7 g. I will have a vid out on how I start them, but I sseed like micro greens and scatter the seed on top and weigh it down for 3- days. I had zero germination issues. Hope that helps:))
@Mrsnufleupagus2 жыл бұрын
I did a couple trays where I lightly covered the seed with soil...maybe 1/8" and they turned out exactly like the trays ZI seeded on top of the soil.
@GuffeyJon2 жыл бұрын
@@Mrsnufleupagus one of my trays from 1-1 isn't worth keeping; most onions fell over, and i read you need to trim roughly weekly or so? do you trim your onions while they are growing? if so, how often?
@Mrsnufleupagus2 жыл бұрын
I feed mine once they are 4-5" tall...try that and they will stand back up. Also...you can plant they straight up went transplanting. I've heard of people trimming at the 4" stage....I haven't and they did fine last year!! Maybe I will do a tray of each variety to see if there is a difference. Check out our YT channel Thistle Hill Farms...we have our crop selection video up and I show this years onions and how thick they are seeded.
