Totally agree about the ref, it really added to the amusement! As long as he respects his opponents afters (he hasn't always), he's won me over. The 360 degree hop and the tap on the top of the head were the funniest things I've seen in years!

The referee was right. He does this with an opponent who is actually at his level, he gets timed and, hit at the back of the head. At this point he only has himself to blame for the permanent brain damage.

Nah you can't backhand slap, hit on the back of the head deliberately or turn your back on your opponent. They're against the rules. Don't get me wrong I'd love for him to get away with it as it's entertaining, but all the ref is doing is enforcing the rules.

So called Boxing experts all of a sudden don’t get the nuances of the sport. He’s an Olympic medalist, he’s got to build a brand. You’re allowed to showboat and fight guys who are journey men as you build up as the sport is completely different as a pro. If people fought the way you wanted we’d have no long lasting champions.

Boxing yes is an entertainment sport. I remember Mohammed Ali dancing around the ring talking to his opponents during the fight and nothing was ever said by the referee's. I actually enjoy this style of fighting because he back's up everything with stopping his opponents. Let's be honest they don't complain about all the fun and games inside the ring only the officials

For those who have not seen one of the real old school guys with this kind of style look up Nicolino Locche. He would win fights by dodging and touching his opponents face with jabs to score points. He wanted to do as little work as possible and he did not exercise, he used cigarettes to keep his weight down and would even smoke sometimes between rounds which was fine in his era.

Been watching boxing 40 odd years And while I agree this kid as something special, that showboating will get him KO'd when he gets up to the top level, it's OK when your opponent is a journeyman with an upside down record, but most if not all show boaters get found out and are never the same after, no hate here just my honest opinion.
