I think a lot of folk are underestimating just how skilled you have to be, to use Whittaker's style effectively at this level. Fighters like Whittaker will keep the sport alive. He reminds me of Emanuel Augustus,iykyk....

Totally agree about the ref, it really added to the amusement! As long as he respects his opponents afters (he hasn't always), he's won me over. The 360 degree hop and the tap on the top of the head were the funniest things I've seen in years!
@FranFerioli
@FranFerioli 5 ай бұрын
The referee was right. He does this with an opponent who is actually at his level, he gets timed and, hit at the back of the head. At this point he only has himself to blame for the permanent brain damage.

Been watching boxing 40 odd years And while I agree this kid as something special, that showboating will get him KO'd when he gets up to the top level, it's OK when your opponent is a journeyman with an upside down record, but most if not all show boaters get found out and are never the same after, no hate here just my honest opinion.

@@drinkwater9891 As I said I'm not hating on the guy he as amazing talent, and yes anyone can get ko'd, and when they do because of show boating their never usually the same after, think Prince Nazeem.

For those who have not seen one of the real old school guys with this kind of style look up Nicolino Locche. He would win fights by dodging and touching his opponents face with jabs to score points. He wanted to do as little work as possible and he did not exercise, he used cigarettes to keep his weight down and would even smoke sometimes between rounds which was fine in his era.

Normally i hate showboating but the way he did that and ended it as requested by corner, was pretty impressive, have to say. Itll be interesting to see him v stronger opponent.
