Today you are flying with me on a Jetstar (a subsidiary of Qantas) Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner, from Sydney (population: 5.4 million) to Gold Coast in Queensland 685 km north of Sydney. This flight JQ11 is Sydney--Gold Coast--Tokyo, and we are travelling on Australian domestic section only. It departs from Sydney International Terminal (T1) and we have to go through immigration with passport check even if, for us, it is just an one-hour domestic flight. Landing at Gold Coast, we were lucky to see a Singapore Airlines Airbus 350, as it diverted from its destination Brisbane nearby due to heavy fog. On the ground we also had a chance to appreciate the beauty of General Electric GEnx-1B64 engine. Jetstar operates 11 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners.

From 3:13 I didn't notice while filming, but later found that when our 787 was taking off, a United Boeing 777 was landing on the parallel runway. An interesting race between two widebody aircraft.

Did they have enough passengers to fill a 787? Seems like a short route.

@@gbriank1 Yes, you are correct that it is a 1 hour flight from Sydney to Gold Coast. With the same flight number, after a short stopover at Gold Coast, it will pick up a lot more passengers at Gold Coast and continue on its way to Tokyo.

You caught a glimpse of a rarity at Cooly! Singapore A350 was there due to Brisbane being fogged in.

@@Electrotract Yes, it is very quiet even if I am sitting right next to the engine. The window is definitely big. I also had a look at Jetstar business class seats, they are very simple and 2+2+2, not surprising for a budget airline.

Thanks for watching mate. It is a domestic flight. The flight route is Sydney - Gold Coast - Tokyo, and I only travelled the domestic section (i.e. Sydney - Gold Coast). However, we still need to go through immigration and customs at both departure and arrival. A bit more detailed information has been provided in Description under the video.
