No, he wasn't silly. It was an accident happening to countless opioid victims every day. We don't know his story. Maybe he was in pain? If you are in the spotlight with an ambitious band you need to recover quick, but there is no time for recovering. When you suffer anxiety and from depression you might do anything escaping fast this ultimate horror and to continue, as if nothing happened. THIS is the trap you get caught into due to lack of time. So you start with the opioids, since you don't want to be the reason for slowing down the band's ambition. There is only one choice : admiting you have a health issue. Because if you don't you might end up as Riley and many other addicts do. You die of an overdose or live a miserable life. Unfortunately opioids are no saviour but the devil in disguise. You are right, they are truly disgusting as they feed the misery to a max. extend.
