I think it is absolutely amazing how many lessons that God can teach you while you are standing in the garden. To know that we can sow the seeds, water them, keep the weeds out but ultimately it is God who sends the harvest is wonderfully amazing. How awesome it is to know that he is still in control!

You are one of my absolute biggest gardening inspiration ever!!!! Every time I watch your vlog, I have to go walk my garden and thank God for each plant that is growing. :) So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow. 1Corinthians 3:7 I'm always in such awe of all that grows from just a tiny little seed. Just blows my mind! Blessings to you and yours!

I felt the need to start growing my own food as organically as possibly as I could in 2018 after going through ovarian cancer. That's when I found Jess & VWFF & MY PEOPLE. I feel so full since I found y'all. I've always grown a small garden not really knowing what I was doing. But I've learn so much through y'all & found God. I fought cancer & won. I've been cancer free 4 years now.

I’d sure try..well sounds like a good time for your sister-in-law should move back and buy your place and have her garden and have u closer by to help her!!!..I soo agree with u on what u said about its all connected..we have to cherish this earth he gave us and take care of it..we need cherish and protect the bees..and butterflies..it’s all connected…our oceans, same thing…without those things we do not have food and so much of what we need to survive…can’t wait for her to walk through the gates at roots and refuge..make sure u get her reaction..❤️

Hi Jill, 23:26, fava Beans dont climes- they only get about 40-90 cm high 😘 earlier in your video before you mentioned the fava beans, I saw them and was wondering why they were up against the trellis, but know I know 😘 don’t worry about it though, they taste good fresh and the plant can be a trap crop for the aphids who loves them but the been-pods don’t get damaged 👍

I have grown (in pots only - not allowed to grow in the ground) Tomatoes, Peppers, Eggplant, Cucumbers, Beans, & Peas. Oh, & Asparagus!! "Bloom where you are planted" has always been a favorite saying for me. Now I have Cool-Weather flowers & lettuce started, & they will be ready to go outside when the weather cools off! I love it!! You put out real content and a lot of people, I feel people don’t want to show the ugly or the imperfect, but you do. So thank you. Hopefully one day we can meet because I have a true love for the garden as well and would love to meet somebody that has that same passion. Glad to see that you don’t have two to three ft. high raised beds. I’ve never known the reason for the use “waste” of all that work and wood is expensive...especially right now! Also, plants dry out much faster above the ground than down in the soil. Do you grow sweet corn? Corn and beans were the next things my mother planted after her lettuce, onions, and tomatoes. She and dad planted an early crop of corn and beans and also a late crop so they could have lots for canning and freezing. They canned a combo of those with tomatoes for vegetable soup mix. They had shelves and shelves of canned foods in their basement.

Trust me, you don’t want to come to CA! The politics here suck! Makes it miserable. We’re military and have been stationed in a few states across the nation. If you want to move west, I’d go to Southern Utah or Northern AZ. Less humidity, but politically speaking, it’s tolerable and people are friendly.

That my friend is zinnia blight which is a fungus probably caused due to how much rain you had. We got this on our zinnias last year as well. I would try a fungicide and see if that helps the problem. Also pull off the infected leaves so it doesn’t spread to healthy ones and burn or something don’t put in compost pile.

And it will effect seeds once the blight consumes the plant. You will have to treat any seeds you save with peroxide or the seedlings will get blight almost immediately. Supposedly it effects your soil too.

I was taught that growing onions from seed is better then from sets. Onions are biannual, so they make flowers the second year. WHen you grow from seed the onions won't put any energy into flowers so you get a better yield. I've never actually grown from sets, so I don't know how true it is. I have had good luck with seeds.
