Hi…I think you might have a coneflower with Asters Yellow…A terrible mite that is spread by leafhoppers…Absolutely nothing you can do for it…Unfortunately and I mean this with heartbreaking experience you will need to pull it and watch for the same issue in many flowers that are in the asters family…I had it in several coneflowers and had to pull all the ones showing signs including some Veronica..

I just googled it and YES! This is what I'm dealing with...and even went to ask the college at their plant expo and they didn't know. So thank you. I have several plants affected and yes, some Veronica too. Dang it. They were my favorites too!

@@nestinggypsy it’s sad, I know…Apparently the extreme heat really makes the problem spread faster which makes sense more heat more bugs (leaf hoppers) …I lost 3 different coneflowers and they were big and beautiful prior…Don’t leave coneflowers that are nearby even if at the moment they look okay or just questionable because the next year as they start growing they will show signs and then the problem continues…Especially if you think oh I’ll just plant some fresh ones with any older ones that didn’t show signs…It’s a very expensive heartbreak in my opinion…I had paid $30 for some of them getting 3 at a time..Just to pull them all plus the Veronica…I don’t have many coneflowers anymore and boy do I really want all kinds just still a little traumatized I guess…For reference I was living in New Mexico zone 7a…Now I’m in South Colorado 6a…I have 2 different varieties…Going to wait a year before adding any…
