It was astounding how I laughed my ass out from one the best couches Ive seen in a while and then suddenly just got shivers down my spine by Bareilles's performance. I didn't know she was on this show. Waitress is one of my favourite musicals ever made. It's so simple, yet so complex, and the lyrics and music make it. This song is the perfect example of it. "For the girl that I knew Who'd be reckless just enough That gets hurt but who learns how to toughen up When she's bruised and gets used By a men who can't love And then she'll get stuck And get scared of the life that's inside her Growing stronger each day 'Till It finally reminds her To fight just a little To bring back the fire in her eyes That's been gone, but used to be mine" Beautiful lyricis, beautifully performed, those have helped me through some troublesome days
