On the same note, I'd like to point to proof of how classy Joan is - she yields back the floor. She also always gives her full attention to whoever's turn it is, and doesn't cut in. It's something that separates her class of comedy from some other comedians, who are always cutting in and trying to grab air time.

@YourMadTourGuide10 жыл бұрын
you know there were times I was not in love with everything Joan Rivers said, but I think she was one tough lady. emphasis on tough and lady. yah she could raunch it up to stay relevant with her audience, but I also think people forget how few people got up into the heights of entertainment and stayed there the way Joan Rivers did. I remember when a lot people thought she was basically finished after she had that falling out with Johnny Carson it was like a hollywood black listing. but man where she could work she did and as Johnny softened and then he eventually also passed. The fear of repercussions lifted and cable desperately needed veteran talent and Joan has been veteran talent since the 60's. So I have a great deal of respect the way she parlayed her achievements into socializing and her socializing into her more cache to get things done. I know millennials will not remember this but Joan Rivers was at one time considered an heir apparent for the Johnny Carson show, except for that she was a woman. So at the height of the frenzy, Joan tried her own show which did not work it was as much about how Television itself was evolving as anything else.. I mean while this is when I was literally a baby, the late night shows were literally the last shows prior to "signing off their broadcast day" and there were three networks, and if you lived in a decent size city and independent local station or two. Who were incidentally all largely rescued when Fox said we want to make an american network. But Joan found a way to not be depressed. raise her children, and keep a sense of humor through an enormous amount of flux. I mean when Joan rivers did her own show, it was NOT OK. back then it was seen as she was stabbing Johnny in the back. While others actually cared and argued that they would have never given such a premier piece of broadcast Realestate to a woman. Then When Johnny seemed like he might just die in the tonight show chair, she took the momentum and gave it a shot. I personally Think That Johnny was very hard on her for the choices she made. But in that day and age with no basic cable and no CNN that was watched or otherwise. If you wanted national exposure you had to go through the talk show circuit and the most impactful was Johnny Carson. you did not get on his show well maybe you just were not prime time material. You got good ratings by Johnny, your life had just changed. I remember when for years before he retired in 1980s dollars Johnny made 25 million dollars a year. in todays bank role that is like having a role in TV and your annual salary is 100 million a year. but his ratings were second to none and I do mean NONE. he was the WASP gatekeeper as to what got to national prominence at least if the road to become prominent required national television to make it a reality. I just always admired how Joan Rivers was not daunted and held on through her banishment by johnny. but the other part about Joan Rivers I liked is how she was such a devoted mother. OMG a demoted mother and I know the folks she worked with loved her -- she was loyal and I am SO sorry she is gone because she could have written about both old and and new hollywood because of how many introductions her stint in various parts of the industry set up for her. She was in the original group of comics that started to make shows, she knew all the other talent with all the hosting she did in Johnny's stead. She was a California and New York socializer. And she always changed with the times. it is early in the morning and I am barely awake. But I have to say, that even though I got tired of Joan staying relevant by validating some very crass cultural trends. I am still deeply sad she is gone and off the air. and though I never knew her personally, I am sure she loved her daughter and had more to do. I am not obsessed, But I still find it extremely odd that she was killed in a procedure that should have been basically risk free. the only issue being going under or allergy and I understood it, this type of a procedure had been performed on her so that the doctors had patient data to rule out any bad reactions. Totally bizarre and too bad as I am certain when Joan felt that maybe it was time for here final curtain call, I feel certain she wold have had some honest commentary that would have been worth knowing and now we will never know. I will likely need to come back and edit this but to those who just finished my rough draft on Joan rivers, I hope you enjoyed it anyway.

Man she is fucking hilarious. "As a turd" has me on the floor. Same as the "Is there a terrorist on board?" James was pretty spot on about the coffee conundrum as well

Just when I thought the episode couldn’t get any funnier, Kesha’s lip syncing ability comes and completely steals the show 🔥

In another life I hope there would be a show that's just Jeremy and Joan going around the world complaining about things. Absolute gold

Joan was a true legend, the funnest woman ever to appear on TV or in stand up. She is missed by everyone who ever watched her act. Every line just came so quick.

I totally agree what she says about Glee and its actually most gay characters in mainstream series. People are still not as accepting as shown there.

Wendy glee doesn’t show people being that accepting of the gay characters. One of them literally moves school.
