The Canadian Open Enduro presented by Specialized will go down as one of the most intense races in EWS history. Featuring some of the longest and gnarliest stages ever run, this one day race on Whistler's iconic trails brought the drama from start to finish.

It's interesting that Jesse Melamed decided to race on the Altitude instead of the Slayer. It turned out to be a good decision I guess!

He's raced on the altitude all season, same with Gauvin, his teammate. Not sure why he chooses to race the altitude but it does work pretty well

3+ minutes difference between the men and women's times?!? I'm new to MTB. Is there THAT much pedalling in downhill/enduro that the men can utilise their power advantage? Or is there lots of climbing that didn't make it into the highlights package? What accounts for the massive time differences in this style of riding?

Mostly technique and ballsiness, I'd say the dudes don't make up more than 30 seconds in hard climbs and pedaling.

It takes strength and agility to maneuver the bike on the purely downhill sections where there is zero pedaling

If the uphill isnt timed, why not take a DH bike and walk the untimed sections? Sorry. Trying to nderstand this =)

Puppy Casey Stages might still include some flat sections in which you need to seriously put power down. Also, they have to cover a lot of distance in the liaisons, so it'd take forever to reach the stages.
