this is the trail that we took the wrong way, on the way we took the left side, that doesn't have a proper stuff to hold down the Beaver falls, we should have taken the other side which can be longer and steeper but can get me all the way down to beaver. i am very excited im going back in this paradise in End of april.

Would you say you need a certain skill level to do this? Also where do you sleep for the few days?
@TheNotLostNomad2 жыл бұрын
So this trail leaves out just past the climb down to Mooney falls…so if you can make it down Mooney falls fine then you’d be good. As for camping, there is a large camping area in between Havasu Falls and Mooney falls…just further up the creek. The permits are extremely difficult to get for this trip so I’d check their website for all of the details. It’s a difficult process but one of the most rewarding trips I’ve ever been on.

What would one need to bring with them to make sure that the trip is successful and safe. What did you bring with you?
@TheNotLostNomad Жыл бұрын
Are you referring to this hike to beaver falls or the entire Havasupai trip? I mean you will need basic backpacking gear but specifically for this trip I’d add the following…hiking sandals(like keen) for maneuvering through all of the water, gloves for the chain section going down to Mooney falls, extra cash for the food available down there, and a hammock to lounge in as you will have extra time to relax during your 4days/3nights down there. Hope that helps!

I wanna get to mooney without climbing up and down that sketchy hill.. is there any way?
@TheNotLostNomad2 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately not...going through the caves and the ladders is the only way down...but that’s what makes it so great! I’d suggest bringing some gloves and just take your time...it’s really not all that bad as long as you are careful.

Is it true that I can't just see the falls and return that same day? I have to stay down there for 3 nights!?
@TheNotLostNomad3 жыл бұрын
Yep this is true, it’s a long 11 mile hike to get to the falls and it would be too much to do in one day. You have to obtain a permit and they do them in 3 night increments to simplify the process. We only stayed for 2 nights even though the permit was for 3. Also, most don’t realize the size and magnitude of this whole area. Literally hundreds of waterfalls beyond the two huge ones we always see...you definitely need a few days to soak this place up.

Y’only have 12-15 or so years left to see it as it is, the Supai Reservation people themselves included will witness great changes. In the meantime, enjoy.

What time of year do you suggest going?
@TheNotLostNomad Жыл бұрын
I’d say early spring or late fall…that way you avoid the extreme heat and freezing temps…and avoid the monsoon season. The canyon is prone to flooding during that time
@lebaoyaj21952 жыл бұрын
Do we need passes to go there?
@TheNotLostNomad2 жыл бұрын
Yes, you do need permits to visit this as it is part of the Havasupai canyon on the Supai Reservation. Check out there website for all of the details...it’s a complicated permit process but completely worth it.

@TheNotLostNomad3 жыл бұрын
So if you already have permits to visit Havasupai then you are good to go. Beaver falls is just another set of falls further down the trail past Havasu and Mooney Falls. But you must have a permit to visit the whole area.
