But what is good is that they ultimately became friends.

That’s rare and normally never happens in real life. Usually the mean kids stay mean unless they’re being 2-faced to try to take advantage of people. Stephanie needed better friends, she had a pattern of not having the best of friends: Like the Jennifer’s, who pressured her into piercing her ears to fit in, Gia who continued to be a bad Influence even after they became friends, and Mickey, who was a better friend but left the shoe after 2 episodes.

Everyone is saying that Stephanie had the right to embarrass Gia or that Gia deserved it or something like that. But here's evidence that Gia is the real victim: 1. Gia embarrassed Stephanie by telling a rumor that was false. Everyone knew it wasn't true, but they still rubbed it in. And then Stephanie embarrassed Gia by posting her bad report card to the wall. Now, everyone knew that Gia was terrible at school, and that was cause she hated school and kept ditching classes a lot. Technically, it was Gia's own fault that she got an F in English. But for Stephanie to rub it in even more is even worse then just knowing that she was a rebel non-nerd. This was incredibly low and she and Mickey knew better. 2. When Stephanie was humiliated and she and Jamie were forced to break off her date, she didn't cry or yell. When Gia was humiliated, she cried. This leads me to believe that Gia was once a nerd girl that everyone laughed at and teased. That was probably why she started smoking, being mean, and ditching school. She wanted to get revenge on the people who were mean to her. This explains why Gia cried when she was humiliated, instead of Stephanie. She was brought back to her years where she was laughed at. 3. She also said that she wished that once she had a teacher that didn't hear of her before she got into the classroom. She doesn't say anything about her loving school when she was younger, but it kinda sounds like Gia was asking for her nice, smart, obedient nerd self back. 4. After Stephanie apologizes, she and Gia become friends, and Gia starts leaving the rebel side a little. It only means that Gia wasn't a nerd or a rebel anymore. She chose the both sides. But its kinda mysterious to think about. Without Stephanie, Gia was a total mean girl. With Stephanie, she left the bad side and became good. Some people are saying that its cause Stephanie was a good influence, and I do think its that, but it might be something else. Think back to Gia's nerd life. She might've had a friend when she was younger, but imagine her friend leaving her for any reason. That was probably how she became Gia. And then Stephanie came, and she calmed things down a little. Friendship might be the power source in Gia's life. But it might not be just friendship. Think about the episodes with Stephanie making new friends: There was Charles. He was a jerk, but after telling Stephanie his abuse secret, they become short friends. There was Mickey. She used to smoke, but because of Stephanie, she decided to stop. Then theres Gia. I wonder.... hope u enjoy my theory!

I don't think Gia was ever a nerd, I think she was always a "bad girl" that didn't do well in school and acted tough to cover up her insecurities about it. That still doesn't justify her spreading rumors about Stephanie though and Stephanie didn't know Gia was insecure about her poor school grades. Stephanie apologized, Gia never did.
