That stuff on that pillar is called artex you buy it as powder and mix with water, then put it on the ceilings with a bathroom sponge , the less experience you have the thicker and worse it is put up. From the 1970 it was all the rage as it covered cracks I. Cielings and help things together, and some people did put it on walls etc, if you steam it,it will scrap off, but it hard work.

Lord why do people keep making the kitchen predominantly white... it's boring and unoriginal. Don't get me wrong the house looks MUCH BETTER... but come on, why make the kitchen mostly white. It only gives a illusion of being bigger and "clean", it's not going to stay spotless or stain free forever
