It's so true, I find that generalizations one way or another are often too sweeping to take into account how idiosyncratic and yet similar we actually are as human beings. Everybody needs a break every now & then from "employment." He's not exactly just writing for his health. He is also required to give interviews, book tours, etcc.. to obtain the Maximun "sell" for the Book Series. How many people never even heard of him prior to the HBO Series? That's an entirely *new market now for selling even more books. He'll complete the Books when he's ready to & fulfills all his other obligations to himself, his publishers, the HBO Series, and to Fans.

I, for one, think that Jon Snow is going to be resurrected by Melisandre. I think that's a popular theory too, especially since she's still at the Wall, both in the Books and in the Show. In both the next Book, and the Show, Melisandre will have realized that Stannis is not the prophesied "Azor Ahai". Jon Snow is.

He refused to lie regarding his opinion of ww2 and did not lie when asked of being a pacifist, even though if he had lied perhaps he could have easily avoided all the trouble in front of the authorities. He had his own opinion and showed his believes firmly to the authorities responsible, that is not being a coward he stood up for what he believed in even though all the odds were against him. I won´t get into politics here but dont just judge someone so quickly.

LOTR- ASOIAF but... Cliché fantasy for me is unacceptable anymore. I love the fact that George has/is creating a world with rich, complex and realistic characters where no one is neccesarily a hero or a villain and main characters can die just as well as minor ones. Love it. Altough nothing can beat the epicness, nothing will ever give me the insanely, undescribable feeling that LOTR gives me
@mihais111 жыл бұрын
Who the hell would say "please take as long as you like to finish the books" ? Seriously now :)). You either don't care that much about the books( in which case you don't send him a letter) or you love the books, in which case you want to read the last two as soon as possible.

GRMM is a genius. He gets rich by disappointing people and killing of their favorite characters, in that way people will think "hey maybe in the next book the Starks will get revenge, or Stannis will beat the Boltons".. then no.. the cycle goes on, people buy the next book... Have read both and while you can talk about them in terms of metaphysics and symbolism, in terms of literature and plot and intrigue and character development LOTR cannot come close. You know just because something is 'the original' it doesn't mean it can't be overtaken, it's not sacred. Tolkein would probably have to tip his hat to Martin and concede Martin has outshone him, just like Chaucer would to Shakespeare.
