Nicholas Wolfe another good example of change for the better is Yara/Asha. In the books she was supposed to be an ebony haired pirate beauty, whereas she has a more realistic look in the series (for one being born of a family of tough seafarers from a grim place).

When Ned said to Jon "You are a Stark. You may not have my name, but you have my blood." It sounds more like he's saying that Jon is a member of the family, not that Jon is his son per say. Sounds to me like Jon might actually be the son of Ned's sister who spent like, what, an entire war with the Last Dragon. Jon might be the rightful ruler of Westeros
@JstBEasy131210 жыл бұрын

Only a King can naturalise a bastard - Stannis offered to naturalise Jon (and Robb does in the books but dies before Jon finds out.) Tommen naturalised Ramsay, as a favour to Roose for the Red Wedding. Ned could probably have asked Robert Baratheon to naturalise Jon after the rebellion, but likely didn't so as not to offend Catelyn
@iBot.5 жыл бұрын
@@Hankyman583 Catelyn wanted Jon to be called Stark, as from a monologue from Catelyn in S3. I think Ned didn't want to naturalize Jon as he is a Targaryen.

I love how he created a series that emphasizes the underdogs, or the "2nd tier" individuals who are eclipsed by another. Jon Snow with Robb Stark, the Hound with the Mountain, Stannis with Robert, Arya with Sansa in a sense, Tyrion with Jaime and I could even argue Tywin, and plenty more. This is the reason why I fell in love with the books because I can relate to this underdog feeling in situations I've encountered in life. It teaches you that anybody can rise to success even if you're not the golden boy.

Fullmetal Cheese Dorne is the only kingdom that managed to withstand Aegons conquest for about 200 years I think. They became part of the Seven Kingdoms by marriage, not by "Fire and Blood". Also their culture is more laid-back, passionate and quite honestly? less toxic than the other kingdoms except maybe The North. Prince Doran Nymeros Martell, Lord of Sunspear and Warden of The South is actually a quite cunning man and really good person too. You will see why he is so cool. Oberyns daughters also called "The Sand Snakes" are also as badass as his own father.

The Faith of the Seven doesn't allow polygamy. The Iron Throne follows the Faith of the Seven and are protectors of it. The Valyrian Faith has long been ceased to exist. Rhaegar Targaryen was married to Elia Martell. So he couldn't have legally married Lyanna. So whatever happens, Jon is a bastard. The only thing that will change if indeed R + L =J is correct is Jon's surname. He won't be a Snow anymore but a Waters.

I forgot about Ned's line to Jon "You are a stark. You might not have my name, but you have my blood." Honorable high borns are allowed to naturalize their bastards if they choose, like Stannis offered Jon and I'm pretty sure Roose did for Ramsay. Maybe one reason Ned never naturalized Jon was because he wouldn't take on Stark, it would be Targaryen. He has the stark blood but not the name perhaps because his mother was a stark, not his father.

Interviews with George are great. Westeros is a really dangerous place to live, but if I had to move there I would definitley want to live in Dorne. In Dorne they are sexually liberated, women and men have equal rights, and they just seem a lot more liberal and free. Plus they have a warm climate and they're the only one of the 7 kingdoms to never have been conquered, so by far the safest, most civilized country to live in.

The scenes between Ramsay and Roose mean that the show is getting far into ADWD territory. The other day I read an interview where George Martin said that HBO could adapt the fourth and fifth books in three seasons to give him more time to write the sixth one. This is clearly not going to happen. This is why I'm excited about season 5. Probably the producers will begin to just ignore the books and write their own story. So, there will be no way to be spoiled ahead of the upcoming seasons.
@jeffbatt200010 жыл бұрын
I don't think they're going to go super fast. I think they're going to be combining books 4 and 5 and tell them at the same time. I think they're going to tell the second half of book 3, and books 4 and 5 over the next 2 seasons.
@djzero589310 жыл бұрын
Rex Batt Pierin24 Season four is getting into AFFC and ADWD content but yes, they're going to combine what they have left after this season and likely finish most of the stories in those books in season five. Despite there being so many pages it's ripe for being trimmed/edited down. It doesn't help that Feast and the first half or two-thirds of Dance happens at the same times as the events in the previous book. George has been saying that same thing for years and if that interview was recent he's pretty delusional at this point (though I don't think he still actually believes this given his position on the show) to expect the remainder of those two books to be stretched for three seasons let alone two full ones. On the bright side, TWOW might make it out next year but there's no way the last book (if it remains the last book) gets released before the show ends. DC Zero Some fans are freaking out about the prospect of the show catching up with the books. I do not see a problem there, I see opportunity. This story is so rich, that I would be happy to see two distinct endings. Some storylines (Bran, Brienne, Sansa) will soon get to the point where there is no published content to adapt from. So, we will see what the producers come up with. By the time the fifth season airs, George Martin should have already written most of WoW (some reports indicate that he has 1000 pages done) Therefore, I do believe that some content from books 4-6 wil be used for seasons 5-7. However, the producers will have to fill in the blank spaces in the mean time (they are already doing it : Yara(Asha) rescuing Theon, Stannis going to Bravvos, etc.) There is no way that the final book is published before the final season airs(probably season 8) NOTE: some acting contracts expire after season 6 . The books and the show share a fair deal of resemblance, but they are two different pieces of art. I would rather see an ending that differs from the books' than a forced ending or no ending at all .
@MariyaMartell10 жыл бұрын
Pierin24 The problem is that the ending will NOT differ from the books. The producers already know how the story ends and that is what they'll run with. Of course, the details may be different, but the core will be the same. And that's not good, because unless you have the willpower of a monk, you will be spoiled. Still, there's nothing to be done about it, so why worry so much?
@Pierin2410 жыл бұрын
***** George Martin has been asked about the matter recently. His answers were: "Let's just make a prequel" "Let's see how many seasons we do... ten, probably?" "Let's make a movie," etc. George, I will give you a proper answer, "We just gave up on you." The books are not going to come out soon. It has become pretty obvious. The producers know the ending. The just need to add some filler. The REAL problem is that the people who provide the money (HBO) can axe the show whenever they want. It is almost certain that there will be a season 5; however, most shows suffer from audience exhaustion between the third and fifth seasons. Since GoT IS the most popular show on TV this will not happen soon, but if the viewership decreases during the sixth (or 7th) season (at this time the acting contracts would have expired already), the executives will probably only greenlight one more season to give the show a proper ending (They don't have to). If this happens, the producers WILL have to come up with their own ending(of course they could add some elements from the actual ending) . Book enthusiasts and purists would be annoyed, but anything is better than cancelation.

Indira Varma is one of the most stunning women ever. It's really sad she didn't get a good agent and have her career managed better, she didn't many roles like she deserves being so talented and beautiful. You guys have to go see her in the movie Kama Sutra A Tale of Love, she was really young I literally could not get over how someone could be so beautiful lol. I think this was featured on US tv, or something like that. There are a few other clips that never made it to the official HBO channel (a few are on international HBO channels, but not the "mother" one, for example). Not everyone was going to be happy, regardless of what happened, and whether or not I agreed with the decisions made in this last season, I did see MANY little, "messages," especially in this last episode, about power that resonate PROFOUNDLY, even today; They refer to their rulers as, "Your Grace." It's an adaptation of the idea that a ruler should empower mercy and the suggestive empathy of, "God," or, "Gods." Which they rarely do lol thinking too much of themselves and their own power, and that's essentially the opposite of, "Grace." Also; Daenerys explains to Jon Snow why she refuses to pardon or forgive any of the common people; "We can't hide behind small mercies." That couldn't be LESS true. However, we too often confuse, "being bold," with, "going big." and we confuse, "a quest for more," with, "being better." and, "Firsts," even though they often lead to, "worsts." The mistake is not surrendering the, "me," for the, "we." So then, when her moral opposite, Jon Snow asks her to consider the fate of the people, and when the council considers putting the choice of the next ruler to the ruled, Samwell Tarley gets laughed at and Daenerys tells Jon, "They don't get to choose." That's essentially the exact same BIG mistake. When Daenerys rejects Jon's entreaties, and she tragically won't see mercy as part of her might, what does he do? Ironically, he kills her. Dramatic, but also symptomatic of the problem. Because you shouldn't just kill what you don't agree with. You shouldn't look to overwhelm opposition, or dissenting opinions and ideas. The only character who actually gets it, is the one who was developed to be the example of, "the worst," lol and that's Drogon. The series' example of prose, power, fear, and rage, Drogon is the the only one who gets it, in the end. Drogon confronts the man who killed his, "Mother," and he could have VERY easily BBQ'd Jon Snow, but, instead he lashes out, directing his agonizing rage at the Iron Throne. Drogon uses his fire to melt the ONE thing that so many characters wanted SO desperately, the Iron Throne, into a puddle of molten steel lol Why? Because the Iron Throne represents the REAL problem, which is Concentrated Power. "Power corrupts. Absolute Power corrupts absolutely." Tyrion gets the truth of this when he says, "From now on, Rulers will not be born, they will be chosen." THAT'S what resonates, even in the ruling circle, and even today, Those who laughed at Samwell's suggestion, they accede one by one to the choice of, "Bran the Broken," as the new King. That's how a consensus is formed, you see it as, "the many," but in reality its always one by one, by connecting and making people believe in the bigger sense. Bran is in a wheelchair. Just like us all, he's, "Broken." And in seeing the flawed as, "best," they divorce themselves from the idea of simple, "might making right." The, "weakest," is, in fact, sometimes the, "strongest." Jon goes back to the Night's Watch, which his fans out there HATED lol but where ELSE for the character purest of heart and purpose to be but on the line between good and evil? "A shield that guards the realms of Men." My last takeaway is; Jon worries about his decision to kill Daenerys, asking Tyrion, "Did I do the right thing? Because it doesn't feel right." And Tyrion says, "Ask me again in ten years." That is SO true! He's obsessed with his decision, in the moment, because people often don't value their choices as a function of what they mean for the future, or what comes next. He was so caught up in the, "now," and it seems so urgent, but time is the ultimate judge, especially of who stepped up and did the right thing when it mattered the most. Tyrion redirects him to the more important question; Which is, "Will it stand the test of time?" With the way the show ended, and everyone sent off on their own respective paths, it leaves the audience with the feeling that, for a while anyway, the World in which they inhabit HAS become a better place for everyone. And, the, "Aces," are in their places. 👍

I like the accents. It fits on so many levels. First of all, the books claim that while they speak the Common Tongue, and they have different accents all throughout the seven kingdoms, the Dornish in particular have a very distinct drawl. Second of all, like Mariya Martell said, it gives them that distinct southern.spicy characteristic, which is appropriate given that Dorne is supposed to be the Spain. Lastly, it is actually quite genius to give Oberyn Martell a Spanish-sounding accent, given the inspiration for his character- Inigo Montoya (GRRM even confirmed this).

***** Which makes me wonder if they're going to include the Rhoynar lineage at all. I'm afraid they'll do wuthout it, which is a shame really. Though haven't they been mentioned before, when Arya tells someone about Nymeria and where her name comes from? TI guess it could have been in the books.
