I have so much respect for the first responders who braved the unfathomable heat as they fought to protect the people and the homes In the area.

It's likely that most of the liability for this incident is going to fall on the person that drove through the fence. Nothing was wrong with the pipeline prior to the car hitting the valve. The pipeline was likely within code. It was no secret that it was there. It had the proper easement. It was fenced. And it certainly isn't the only one there. There are above ground valves all over the country for pipelines.

There is a discussion as to whether changes can be made to improve public safety. Maybe require closer shut off valves. Maybe restrict how far pipelines can be from housing and/or vital public services in the future. Maybe barriers to prevent small vehicles doing damage. Now whether legislatures actually care about public safety is a different story.

@@derred723 Those are all great things to discuss. Hopefully there will be some action come from it as well.

Where is the person who was in the car?! Why is nobody talking about that person?!
@echoecho1913Ай бұрын
@@vshareexo I'm assuming it's because they can't get to the car yet. But it's likely they know who it is or who it should be.

Did the person that crashed their SUV survive
@M.C.BlackwellАй бұрын
You know, I don't even think they've even checked inside the car because the fire is too hot. I keep trying to find an update on the person. Did you see the eyewitness interview with a husband and wife who saw an elderly lady with sunglasses on in the white suv and she drove through the Walmart fence and then suddenly rapidly accelerated until she hit the valve. they really thought she was having a heart attack and perhaps was unconscious.

Probably not if that thing exploded and got flung 10/9 ft in the air and then went back down to ground
