@@JJ-xn7mrHe’s still 100% right. The very reason we lost that game was because Reed, Dillingham and Ivisic all choked. Especially Reed and Dillingham. I could spot their anxiety on my tv a mile away. Being young makes a huge difference. That’s why employers often want employees with experience. If you can recall Ky’s last game, you’ll know Reeves and Mitchell were the only two who stayed chill and scored! That’s because they have the experience and didn’t allow the pressure to hold them down like the freshmen all did. I told my family well before the game was over how obviously nervous Reed was. Then, Dillingham didn’t make any of the shots he typically could with ease. It wasn’t until the next morning I watched the press conference and Cal spoke about them being freshmen and how nervous they were. He was right. I agreed with him completely and I wasn’t even there to see it close up. Their faces and body language screamed, “I’m scared!” Performance anxiety is no joke and especially for freshmen. It’s simply a fact and what Cal said is relevant whether he was off by 2 years or not. We had a team full of young players who couldn’t handle the pressure even with their physical talent. They would all benefit from another college season or two before going to NBA. I guess they’ll learn to get it under control or they’ll be chewed up and spit out.

Coming from a rupp season ticket holder that watched almost every game coach cal had at rupp. Good luck down there. For the fans be prepared for a team that doesn’t press except to speed the other team up! No trapping no double s no creativity outta a match up zone and no mixing up the defenses. The don’t practice guarding the puck and roll except just switch! The defense isn’t aggressive and really just falls back and hopes for missed shot or the other team to make mistakes. Now they ll play fast and look to beat you off the dribble but if that dosent work there’s a lot of standing around. They ll go to their floppy set which is awesome but if you can’t consistently hit the three it’s over. Cal made it clear that he isn’t trying to win a natl championship and putting it all onto the admins. They will not foul up 3 with 5 seconds left. Cal for some reason lets the other team get a last shot and in fact lost 4 ot games where he didn’t foul. Winning titles sec or natl aren’t on Caliparis agenda. So if that is the hopes of the Arkansas fans u can forget that.

I know the fans are excited about their new coach (and they should be, it's an exciting time for them) but if you compare the energy from his induction at Arkansas vs. Kentucky, it's completely night and day. He's putting on a brave face, but he looks a like a guy who's going on his first date after going through difficult and unwanted divorce with the woman he dreamed his whole life of growing old with. In his speech at the arena, one of the first things he said was a reference to the Arkansas game where he was thrown out and then mentioned "WE still won the game". This was probably not the best thing to say to your new school. You can tell how awkward that comment was even through the video. His body language, his level 5-of-10 energy would be concerning if I were an invested Arkansas fan. I think he'll do a decent job and build up the team in 5 years in order to hand it off to a new coach. This seems like a short-term swan song.

Your not wrong here. He thought it was going to be just another year of I'm out in the first round but I'm still king and can continue to not teach defense. You may be right but that’s not what I think. I really do believe it’s what he talked about here. He didn’t get along well with the administration, Mitch. They didn’t see eye to eye or have the same goals(as you mentioned). Coach Cal is all about winning but he told us Ky fans many times, the boys come first, over the program. I genuinely feel he did his best to keep his word in that aspect too. Much of my family disagrees but that’s what I think. He said he loved Ky and his wife did. I think he just didn’t feel he could do what he wanted to do with Mitch Barnhart against him. They weren’t on the same page. Also, he got into an argument with the Crafts and others over the years and think he wanted a clean slate.

Again, hope the best for him, but when you're paid millions upon millions of dollars to do a job in the public eye, I think we can all justifiably criticize his abilities moving forward.

You’re thinking along the same lines as some of my relatives(we’re all Ky fans and they live there)but I disagree. Guess we’ll see! Like he kept reiterating, administrations have something to do with the tournament wins also. He wasn’t getting along with Mitch and had a falling out with the Crafts and his right hand man, John Robic(who I feel helped him greatly those first years), etc…So when there’s that much discord, it’s difficult I’m sure to pull a big win together. I’ve also heard the rumor some of his coaches had gotten very lazy and he wasn’t thrilled about that either. That part is just a rumor though. Like I said, I guess we’ll see how things go over the next few years.

@@BS-dq1kz I definitely see your side of things as well. There is more to every story than what is on the surface. I know that Calipari was probably having turmoil within the coaching system at UK before even considering leaving, but I feel that it is still your job to go and lead those kids to a win every game day. As an ex-D1 football player myself, one of the most reiterated things by recruiting staff's, coaches and team management officers is not letting the 'outside noise' get in the way of your playing, no matter how close to home it may hit. Again, totally respect your take on this and think it holds a lot of value, though. He’s from the East Coast and spent 13 years of his career in the East Coast, four in the Midwest, and two in Houston, before his seven years, here. He is the University of Arkansas Athletic Director, but he is not an “Arkansas scholar.” And while I’m sure you feel cool and sophisticated about yourself for being a grammar Nazi, that’s not something that actually matters.

I wish him well. But after watching him the past 12 years since he won the championship in 2012 he dug his heels in in regards to putting the nba above the program. He stated several times that the regular season and sec tourney weren’t important. His go to every year when the season was over was we are young. Will he change ? Does he see the damage that caused? Temper your excitement Arkansas make him earn your adoration

I remember in the early years of Calipari's tenure at Kentucky, ESPN featured a mid-season game in Lexington and the introductory promos showed Calipari in a track suit jogging on a treadmill at Rupp Arena in highly visible area behind plate glass. I thought that was very telling of Calipari's persona. He wanted you to believe that he essentially owned the program and Rupp Arena was his house. When you enter Rupp Arena you may find Calipari jogging as if he were in his private gym. I imagine this was his "selling point" when he recruited. He made the young impressionable minds believe that he was king and could grant them whatever they wished as long as they signed the NLI. His hubris was eventually his downfall.

You are missing the point. It doesn't matter if he has good players, he doesn't know how to coach them. I had elite talent this year and they couldn't play a lick of defense. 3 7-footers not playing with their backs to the basket. It's a joke and it's been going on for 10 years. This press conference is funny to watch. Cal's body language says it all. Arkansas is acting like they got something special in Cal. I believe Cal is burnt out and washed up as a coach. It's like Arkansas hasn't been watching the last 10 years of UK basketball. I can tell that Cal isn't going to change his ways and luckily, it won't be on Kentucky's dime. There were so many games he lost that should have never happened.

Looking forward to week 2 in March again! I'm also happy for Arkansas though. He's a net positive for any school. Just get used to hearing "well, they are freshman" as an excuse. I actually like Cal as a person that turns players into tax paying professionals at the NBA. I read people saying they wish he would have just retired, heck no. I'll take him making NBA players and losing conference championship and NCAA tourney games at another school any day. I have the interview playing in the background as I type this and he literally just said he isn't changing. He's been saying that for years and he's had the same post season record for years. You guys can have him. Seriously, good luck, I'll even cheer on Arkansas in the NCAA Tourney. I'm just happy he's gone.

While I think Calipari is being honest and down to Earth based on his past experiences in this press conference, I still think he doesn't fit with us so that we have occasional SEC wins.
