Thoroughly enjoyable video this layout took me back to my teenage years. My most vivid memories go back to 1983 to 1987 when the class 50 dominated most of the services

Cheers, definitely at this point of time I started to take note of Exeter. Always loved arriving there en-route to paignton every year.

Hi Tim I enjoyed seeing how the layout operates and the stock you run. I never tire of seeing the shots on the bridge over the Exe. Also closely observed the wagon weathering😀 Cheers Kev

Hi Tim. Another after the event viewer.. Will have to watch it when I knock off tonight. But looking forward to seeing your work both weathering & the really great scenery. Thanks for link to your chanel, hopefully life will calm down enough to actually finish at sensible o'clock instead of silly.. & I might get to view a live version 🤣

Thanks Andy. It's the hidden parts that are the mystery to viewers and great to share so people have a better idea how it all works.

Thanks, guaranteed it won't be big enough soon lol. The 47 is a stunner. I may pick another up at some point for a renumber.

Nice video Tim. I enjoyed seeing how the trains run on the layout and where they actually go. I quite like the reverse loop idea. Your fleet is growing too! I like the addition of the HST every layout needs a HST I would say!. - Nicholas.
@thescrapline49052 жыл бұрын
Thanks Nicolas, the reverse loop was the first thing I threw into the original plans when I first started, it's that one thing that highlighted reverse loops. Slightly adjusted since the original one was installed and definitely works in favour for more scenic space.

Great layout, do you by any chance have any track plans on paper or digitally? I always like looking at these sort of things for inspiration and learning how to get realistic track flow. I use SCARM for mine and whilst I have an excellent layout idea I am not happy with it in terms of operational flow. I have an overlapping double loop mainline shape so it climbs up at the back, comes around and goes above itself. I have limited space so no separate fiddle yard but instead have a small set of sidings with a TMD. I have a branch line coming off this but it runs into a station and 'into' a fake tunnel that is a dead end. I wish I had room to make that go into a reversing loop instead but sadly I do not.

Hi Tim - Brilliant video, great explanation of the running of the new layout, thankyou. Guessing this lot has been built with the future move taken into consideration? Regards Chris
@thescrapline49052 жыл бұрын
Only the fiddle yard is removable. Sadly no matter much I look at the rest of the layout it can't be taken apart to fit out the loft without causing heaps of damage. If I did attempt to remove it with intentions of rebuilding it I'm pretty certain it would be to much work trying to join it back together and get it to run faultless. There's a few elements I want to salvage, such as the river section.

For DMUs, you need some 101s for the Exmouth trains - I recall riding on those at around this time.
@thescrapline49052 жыл бұрын
101s are on the list.

Great looking layout, do you have anything scenic planned for the “bridging” section?
@thescrapline49052 жыл бұрын
Nothing sadly as it wouldn't really represent much in the region, also the frame is at its narrowest along this section. If it wasn't for moving I may well of done something with it in the future.
@GoodfordModelRailway2 жыл бұрын
@@thescrapline4905 that’s a shame, can’t go wrong with just a little bit of countryside running. Although if you’re moving does that mean a new layout is on the horizon?
@thescrapline49052 жыл бұрын
@@GoodfordModelRailway yep very much in those lines. The plan as it stands is to build Laira (mainlines and the closest sidings) This will be built fully modular with exhibitions in mind. Hopefully the boards will be built some point this year before being stored until we've moved and settled.

Good video. Have you moved house Tim, to escape the horrible neighbours? Cheers Joachim
@thescrapline49052 жыл бұрын
Not yet still here. We have a tight time frame to find a house and move due to my daughters education so can't go until she's left school, that's where the fun starts.
