Also, I've been wondering, what 31.5L in Helium technology roughly translates to literate in PU? Thanks for the answers, you guys rock!

Same volume as your Seaside or slightly more. It's better to hit slightly more volume with the Mashup than slightly less. When it comes to Helium volume related to PU volume, they translate perfectly.

Tnx!!

G'day Dan After about 8 years away from surfing following lower back surgery, I have returned to the sport I love since starting at age 10. I've started back on HI Mid 6 boards, a 7'0'" (40 litres) and 7'6" (48 litres) to get up onto waves quicker, as I'm a bit slower to pop-up now, and getting older haha. I'm really loving the 7'6". I am 55 years of age, 5'11" tall and weigh 180-185lbs. I want to add a shorter board to my quiver. I am tossing up between the Mashup and the Dominator 2.0. Although starting over again, I would rate myself now as intermediate, but need a little extra foam to get on waves quicker. I generally surf beach breaks anywhere from knee to head high. Would you recommend the Mashup over the Dom 2? I have ruled out the Seaside as a 3rd option because I would like the option of having tri or quad set-up. Also, I am considering the Revo as an outside 4th option contender. Interested in your thoughts. Cheers, Marty

Go for mashup or revo. Both good for catching waves than the dominator 2 as it has its low point further down for pivoting

@firewire surfboards Why did you move the leash plug? The board Dan Mann is showing has the plug in the center, but the one’s I’ve been seeing for pre-order have it either on the left or right pin tail…
@firewiresurfboards2 жыл бұрын
We decided to place the leash plug in the center to accommodate many traction pads that have a crescent cutout in the tail kick, allowing the tail kick to fit around the leash plug. Also, if your pad does not have a crescent cutout, it's easy to cut one with an x-acto knife, easier than cutting a section of your pad out on either side of the tail kick.

Looks amazing! I love my seaside and it's been treating me super well for the last year +. Would this be able to handle a little bigger surf than the seaside with the extra rocker and little bit more length? Thanks a bunch for puttin out the good stuff!
@firewiresurfboards2 жыл бұрын
Yes. Also, the Mashup has a wider range of functionality in powerful surf because of the way the rail thins out through the tail, and the way the foil just generally thins out in the back third of the board in alignment with the added rocker. Between a Mashup and a Seaside you're dialed in weak to powerful waves from two to six or seven foot waves.
@stevehills57532 жыл бұрын
@@firewiresurfboards so no need for the dominator 2.0 anymore 8f the mashup wave range is that solid? Or would you say the Dom still has a spot in the quiver ?

@Craig Phillips I’ve surfed both…. I’m not sure what type of waves you surf but I’ll say the mashup is pretty rad! Have you surfed the dominator 2?
@stevehills57532 жыл бұрын
@Craig Phillips I’m 5’9” 155 I went with the 5’6” mash up…. Plenty of float and still small enough to whip around. The dom 2 I have the 5’7”…. My opinion the dom 2 needs a good wave, faster a little bowly. It comes to life in fast punchy surf. The mashup covers a bit more ground it seems to be good in both types of waves, although I’ve yet to try it in overhead surf. We may get some head high+ surf this week if we do I’ll let you know how it goes
@stevehills57532 жыл бұрын
@Craig Phillips adding to that so far in waist to shoulder high the mashup is insanely fun, and feels like it would be fine if the surf got slightly bigger

@firewiresurfboards2 жыл бұрын
You should ride it at your normal volume or slightly higher. The extra volume forward coupled with the thinned out rail in the tail lets you size it up without sacrificing performance in the pocket and during turns.

surfing many waves that are not too big, but fast and often closeout, do you think that the mashup could still be a better choice or maybe the D2 remains the best choice? intermediate level, thanks
@firewiresurfboards2 жыл бұрын
Both boards are great, but closeouts are hard to surf on any board. If the waves are fast and punchy, the Mashup is likely the best call because the rail is foiled so thin, and the tail is so thin. This helps the shape hold in the face of fast, round waves.
@alessandroremoscolagagliar2982 жыл бұрын
@@firewiresurfboards thank you for replying, really very helpful, I have the feeling that the rocker of the Mashup is less accentuated than the d2? could this make it less manageable during take offs in steep and rapid waves or is it just a wrong impression? @firewiresurfboards2 жыл бұрын
More similar to the Dominator 2. The outline, tail shape, and volume foiled from nose to tail came from the Seaside, the rocker, concave and fin configuration came from the Dominator.

@firewiresurfboards2 жыл бұрын
There's actually not much similarity between the Mashup and the No Brainer. They both have swallow tails, but the wide point, rocker, concave and fin clusters are totally different. So is the volume distribution through the plan shape and the foil from nose to tail. Both are fun boards, but the Mashup is more versatile across many different conditions, and overall enables more performance and progression than the No Brainer, without sacrificing speed and paddling.

We're getting more and more people around the globe looking for boards specifically for wave pools and standing waves. @mrmr314 Жыл бұрын
Why put the widest point up above half way? Because you are always concentrating on small and light guys (JJ's boards are custom made for him) you can put the wide point up front on a tiny board with very small litres. For bigger guys, you put the widest point up front and the board just bogs like the 70s, unless the waves are good. See what you are saying? You ride a 5'11" Mashup.
