Set against the backdrop of administration, points deduction and relegation, a shining light in Pompey's turbulent season was their FA Cup run which took them back to Wembley Stadium just two years after beating Cardiff City in the 2008 Final.
In that season's cup run, the Blues saw off Coventry City, Sunderland, bitter rivals Southampton and Birmingham City before facing Tottenham Hotspur - managed by former manager Harry Redknapp - in the Semi-Final.
Pompey, then managed by Avram Grant, had actually been relegated from the Premier League a day prior to the Semi-Final without playing a match. The victor of the Semi-Final would face defending FA Cup Champions Chelsea, who were on course for a league and cup double.

I have been at every one of Pompey's appearances at the new Wembley. I cried my eyes out when we won the Cup in 2008 but, in many ways, this day was better. A better match, a deserved win, Pompey were underdogs. My son and I were collared for interviews by Radio reporters as we wandered towards the stadium. The Chairman and owner of the business I have worked for for 25 years is a Spurs fan and he was there that day too, thankfully we weren't sat together! 😂 Just a few weeks earlier we had been together in a box at White Hart Lane as Spurs beat us narrowly. He told me that Pompey had no chance at Wembley. I told him 'Wembley is our second home.' I even met Darren Anderton that day and asked him who he would be supporting at Wembley. Disappointingly, he wouldn't make a choice. Great memories.

What a fantastic game that was. I remember watching this on the telly and when Piquionne scored the first goal I literally leapt off the sofa. I don't know if it's possible but it would be great to have re-runs of the two 1992 semi-finals at Highbury and Villa Park. That time, it wasn't to be but still fantastic memories. @@danielkerr4100 you watching on a 20 year old TV? it's 480p meaning the resolution is 3x worse than your standard "HD" video. It's very pixelated due to that reason. That's like a resolution you would find acceptable an awful long time ago
