What a game ! Liang Jinkung was releaved at the end but the little hug between the two was probably a sign of respect. Simon slowy regains is best form this past weeks.

wow, a man who can come back from 2 games against him and save 3 match points can win anything. He should be allowed to the Paris JO. i replayed the service very slowly and it was not net, it's a pity, at 4-4, it was perfect draw nothing was lost, he could still win but this incident definitely made him lose.

Crazy how strong mentally these Chinese players are. Liang struggled all game and gauzy in the form of his life and still Liang came out on top. I didn't see the ball touch the net in slow mo. Not sure what gauzy saw. It's a shame as he completely lost his focus after that incident. What a game thou. Love watching gauzy with his creativity

What a pity for Simon! But at the 5th game, it was NOT a net! from the replay, we can check it clearly. Maybe Simon considered the shawdow of the ball touch the net. But, it is no way for Simon to save that point because Liang received a net as well and Simon had move backward... 😢 However, I think this is a fantastic game, and both of two players are great players...🎉🎉🎉❤❤

At the 5th game @4:3 the ball served by Gauzy is NOT a net. Gauzy should not stop the play himself without the Umpire's call. The Umpire is correct & even Liang said no net.🧐By then Gauzy had lost his momentum and lost his chance!🤕

Are you blind, if you play ×0.25, look when the ball is approaching the net. It was the same height with the net, then it slightly touches and goes up. Simon clearly stopped playing

This is really bad from wtt, he lost his tempo after this and lost the game because of that bad net judgments
@akisasaki-b9m7 ай бұрын
blind ? you? 1. It is shadow of the ball, same to the returning ball movement from Liang, also has shadow when passing over the net. 2. The ball smooth trajectory movement shown its not net. 3. Liang returned the ball, indicating Liang also thought it was not net, otherwise Liang will not play the ball. 4. If the opponent returned it, it is normal to continue to play. otherwise, you can stop to play at anytime as you like as the ball very often close to the net. 5. If you then suddenly called it net, it's unfair to the opponent. 6. Great sportsmanship consists in great performance and manner and enjoying pursuing greatest performance not quibble about winning or losing a point or the game. In conclusion, S Gauzy has no sportsmanship. @shawnnl

I agree it was not a "legal", official net ball (and probably not a physical one either, but that is disputed). The important thing here is umpire decides dubious situations in tournaments. I do want to point out that your argument 3 make no sense - a lot of players will return a net serve for a) reaction and b) not having time to process it's a net point or not. Regarding 4. yes, Gauzy should have kept playing and waited for the umpire to call (or not in this case). Not call it himself. Your conclusion though, is a bit harsh. This is competitive play, and Gauzy was not being "unsportsman" to Liam, he was just having a healthy argument about the particular play. If you want to see lack of sportstamnship, go watch one of the many large team, physical contact sports that plague TVs like soccer or football or basketball :P
@frankfeng47286 ай бұрын
If it is so hard to tell whether it is net (nothing impacted), probably there is no need to call.
@djsantosa47577 ай бұрын
I hope this not new tactic from European player, in Singapore, Boll pressured Jingkun the same way about net thats is actually not happening, the ref is not as strict as this match and letting the player decide, Boll success , Jingkun give in and lose focus from 1-3 down, Boll quickly won the next 2 set since that incident making it 3-3. Thats why you can see Jingkun reaction when Gauzy try the same trick
@jliang707 ай бұрын
Psychologically this is move did not help Gauzy, he was the one that suffer a loss of concentration to concede the next two points, he spent his emotional energy arguing with the umpire, if he just waved off this point and concentrate on the next points the outcome might have been different. Even at 4:4 the match was still winnable from Gauzy's perspective. Liang just laughed because he knew the ball did not touch the net and Gauzy created his own distraction.

The camera always misses the precise moment of the serve. We're not interested in the players' armpits for 3-4 seconds; we want to enjoy the game. The entire table should already be shown before the ball toss. Not during the toss, at least a second before! Please replace the camera operator.👎👎👎👎👎

That we don't see the full serve is on purpose. The audience with knowledge of the rules should not see the illegal serves that don't get called out. That way only the umpire has the last word because there won't be any analyse from a third party. Chinese audience, chinese players, chinese rules and politics.
@antiolah49067 ай бұрын

I also thought so at first due t the shadow, but then I decided to look at the spin: the ball doesn't lose any rotation speed from a net touch. You can see it somewhat clearly at 38:38. It was really close but in my opinion, even if it was a VERY MINOR net touch, umpire decides. Them's the rules

I tend to agree, but that's because I like less orthodox players. The one thing that, to me, makes me have a bias against Chinese players is their excess amounts of basic technique, where they completely excel at and is also why they (not just Liam) can perform these amazing comebacks - consistency wins. That said, it's also why I love unorthodox Chinese players such as the man sitting down on China Team's chair, who pioneered RPB (Wang Hao), along with his Penhold antecessor (Ma Lin) and successor (Xu Xin). And why I am ABSOLUTELY in love with seeing such young players as Felix Lebrun makeit so big with RPB. But here, Gauzy brought something else I usually love in TT - bravado and point-level persistency. He lost it at the latter stages because, well, consistency just trumps it, especially on long matches.

It's a professional match, not a game with amateurs. You can't just call your own lets and expect the game to stop just like that. Sad for Gauzy but the loss was on him, nor the umpire or anything else.

lost a lot of respect for Liang Jingkun, not gonna lie. Being classy and a gentleman is more important than any point, or any win. he had a chance to immortalize himself at 4:3 in the 5th, and squandered it. pathetic.
@ericzhang55497 ай бұрын
what are you even talking about? Simon's serve did not touch the net.
@jliang707 ай бұрын
Obviously Liang did not see this serve from Gauzy touching the net and he wasn't going to make a call on it because it wasn't his job to make a call. And he did not influence the umpire to make a call that disadvantage his opponent. Video replay showed no conclusive evidence of the ball touching the net and umpire certainly did not think so. If the ball did touch the top of the net there should be some movement of the net as the ball touched the very top of it, it might also change the trajectory and direction of the serve, we saw none of that in replay. When you freeze frame at 38:40 mark you see a clear clearance between the net and the ball.

1) that serve didn't touch the net 2) Gauzy called the net ball after failing returning the ball (cheating and lying obviously) 3) the umpire made the right decision after checking the replay, and Liang had not argued anything about it since beginning so, what the hell is that Liang not being a gentleman?
