really poor effort uploading these. back in 2012, you uploaded full replays of every round of swimming for the london olympics, within a day of each event being contested. more than 5 years on from rio, and half the full replays from that olympics aren't even up. some have no footage at all, like sjostrom's wr. yet you waste time uploading videos of races that have been available in full for years (m100 free 2012, m100 fly 2016) and upload like 3 highlights videos for schoenmaker's wr, even though the full replay was already uploaded

Yes- why not just post the whole finals session (and heats session too) for every day and be done with it!!!

But honestly one of the most entertaining races, you could really see all swimmer trying to play to their strenghts. Even tho Kalisz was ahead, you could see the field running him down. He timed it perfectly.

A question for the specialists: I don't understand how Hugo Gonzales was able to quite clearly beat Leon Marchand (future double medley world champion !) and Carson Foster on the 400 individual medley, to find himself some months later only 12th in the 200 medley in Budapest, more than 3" behind Léon Marchand ? He was injured, or in shape too soon perhaps? It's a mystery to me...
@verward2 жыл бұрын
Gonzales is a particularly great short course swimmer. There are multple aspects to why this might be. First and most obivously, he probably has better turns and underwaters than Foster and Marchand (who are already quite amazing). Secondly, short course swimming is simply less tiring, because you get a lot of momentum from the push off the wall. It might be that Gonzalez trains in a way that conditioned him more for short course swimming than for long course swimming. I know for a fact that both Foster and Marchand are more focused on long course swimming, which is why they are so great at it. Short course is more a side gig for them.

7:03 it's interesting how kalisz doesn't do the dolphin kick to avoid getting dq'ed on the breaststroke underwater
@verward Жыл бұрын
I don't think it's to avoid getting DQ'ed. I think it's to save on oxygen. He is a veteran, he knows himself and his abilities better than all of these guys. The 400 IM is exhausting so I think he skipped one part of the pull-out to save a breath.
