The IOC has access to the original footage, while most videos you can find on KZbin are VHS recordings of the broadcast transmission. In those times, the broadcast significantly lowered the quality, hence the difference.

The most creative volleyball period (1976-1988). Introduction of back row attacks, a new position - opposite , however still some front row combinations. Jump serve, receiving specialisation, the elaborated field defence. Moreover no disturbing interruptions, no VChS, no ritual huggings, no dirty (foot, power tips) volleyball. Moreover the white ball with a perfect contrast from court colours (no need to wait for slow motion replays to see a trajectory of quick balls.) Some NT this time used two setters system. Pity not full fledged competition.

It's amazing to see blocking of the serve occurring. I'm in my mid-40s, so I remember it being legal until at least some time in the mid-90s. Still, I've never really seen it utilized much before this match. I feel like the US was goading them to do so with such short serves. The game looks so similar but so different at the same time. It seems somewhat slower paced and some of the positions, like MB, seem less defined.

- no rally scoring (can only score if you’re serving) - winner at 15 - no libero - and look at the big FU from the ref to the Brazilian coach. lol 16:25 - a lot more knee pads - barely any jump serving -serve cannot touch net at all, or it’s sideout - blocking at net allowed during serve receive 17:55

La squadra Usa a Los Angeles 1984 ha cambiato la pallavolo proponendo la ricezione a 2 e tanto altro. È da paragonare alla nazionale olandese del mondiale di calcio del 1974 che propose il "calcio totale". Comunque anche il Brasile di Bebeto proponeva una pallavolo innovativa. o volei dessa época com o volei atual mudou demais, era 15 pontos com vantagem, hoje é 25 pontos sem vantagem, antes o saque não podia tocar na rede, antes podia bloquear o saque, hoje é proibido bloquear o saque, hoje o saque é permitido o toque na rede, a bola não podia tocar na perna ou no pé, hoje é permitido, o local do saque se você perceber bem era só um local, podia ser perto da quadra ou no fundo da quadra, hoje o saque pode ser em qualquer ponto do fundo da quadra ou próximo da quadra, nessa época 1984 não tinha o líbero, hoje tem o líbero que entra e sai toda hora o tempo todo.

No, they are not. These are the guys that helped develop the game. The guys today benefit from all the work the previous generations put in. Skills in almost all sports improve over time. These guys may have had just as much raw talent, but they don't have the benefit of 40 years of technique development through trial and error. We have way more technology to break down swings in slow motion, way more coaches and resources to develop that talent and the talent pool to choose from has grown.

La palla è stata cambiata per banalizzare il gioco,renderlo più lento,noioso e adatto a tutti. Infatti quelle schifezze di palloni gialli e viola ridicoli che si usano ora non prendono effetti,rimbalzano dappertutto,non sono sensibili al tocco,sono pesanti e fai un sacco di fatica per niente. Per questo ho smesso di giocare a pallavolo
