Full MiG-21 SPS-K Review - Should You Buy It? Is It Worth It? [War Thunder]

The MiG-21 SPS-K is a currently 10.0BR premium fighter for the German air tech tree, and comes in a $60 USD pack that also includes 2000GE and 15 days of premium time. It features two ridiculously powerful R-60 missiles, but is also based on the MiG-21 PFM, creating a plane that has the fight performance of a currently 9.3BR plane and the armament of a 10.0BR+ plane, being that it has those R-60 missiles.

The SPS-K needs to stay where it is, and current top tier needs to be stretched out to 12.0 AT LEAST. There are sabres in multiple trees that are at 9.3. No afterburner, 2 basic missiles, subsonic.

@@hampter1279 aim9b's arent that bad, and the 6 50cals are easy to aim and you have more than enough ammo, i play the cl13mkb alot and its pretty easy compared to the hunter fighting 11.0

I think it’s fine at 10.0. I never have much trouble with it. The r60s are almost two guaranteed kills and once you are used to the cannon it’s easy to be a menace.

I’ve gotten more air to air kills in ground RB than air RB. Only take it out when the enemy is filling the skies but its fantastic at clearing them. Other than that I only play it in air rb.

@@moelester6182 i have it and it can be a pain the ass, as someone who loves to play custom battles just having fun without losing SL, majority of the jets i play against have flares so if i send a r60 theres a 55% chance itll miss and i cant carry flares unless i get rid of guns, and having no guns is pretty much a death sentence having only 2 missiles with one of them missing due to flares

I bought it today and I can confirm- it's the R-60s. This thing is awful and having to choose between 230 rounds gun or countermeasures is just a small part of it.

I have over 550 kills with this thing and less than 500 deaths. It is a blast to fly, by far my favorite plane in the game.

Tbh, I really love this plane. It’s fun, and I get decent kills with it. This won’t be the same with other players, but most of all, what matters most is if you can have fun. After all, war thunder is a game, and not life or death

I have not played this plane, but from the experience of 50 ish F-104G(ITA) games, I would assume 10.7 or 10.0 is the norm for the SPS-K. 2 R-60s are still sufficient but it really needs flare in the loadout, limiting its fragging potentials I can see why this is getting removed, after all the LAZUR-M exists(everything better but at a much worse matchmaker), while there is also an unorthodox way to grind German air tree through Ju 288 - F-84F - MiG-23BN - Tornado MFG

After the flare buff its kind of irrelevant. Its easy prey for anything else in 10.0 and above due to the lack of versatility and is only really decent for dealing with lower tier opponents

nah. im stomping people with it. its how you play it that matters. you also have to priortize planes with no flares then planes that are dangerous to you. and avoid a10 and su 25 till you can pick them off 1 by 1

Why can't I get the radar guided missiles to lock 😫 ....I'll get a radar lock at 10km out and won't get a missile lock until 1km out most of the times...the enemy is above the horizon in the sky not cluttered by ground....wtf

Quite the good review and video Something that allways bothers me with those reviews is the section "X-Plane is better at this or that" I'm not Intrested to know that a plane of another nation is better at something then another if it can't help me grind the nation im intrested

why would everyone say overlook the 4 r3r's? especially in sim? and arent the r-13 heat seakers better than r-60s? because they hardend against flares.

I actually love the r3r missiles but they are not easy to use. If you are good with them they can be very effective though.

@@tomatojuices5340 right which is why if you snek even aim 9 b is good but fun fact rwr only detects a lock so if someone's out speeding you and you lock they just might dump speed and turn, new rwr like the f15 eagle can detect missiles by themselves tho even heats because it's like it's own radar. But if you play it in sim def take r3r to all aspect people

This thing gets r60 and they dont want to give the usa the aim9j for f5c and dont say they gave it aim 9e because they nerfed it heavily reducing its 18 gs geom before to 10 and the r60 gets 30gs even tho it could only do 8 to 9g

It's even better now top BR is 11.3, all the 11.0 jets get dragged to 11.3 so the highest BR you see is 10.3 vs F5Cs.
