The MiG-21S is a tier 6 Russian premium fighter that currently costs 8910 golden eagles and currently sits at 9.7BR. It has amazing speed and maneuverability, but lacks missiles and countermeasures. Picked this flying AK up on sale yesterday, and I think you seriously undervalued multiple all-aspect uncaged radar-slaved seekers at this BR. Of about 40 (granted, AB so far) kills so far, only 2 were with the gun, the rest have been R3R. They may dodge the first, they may dodge the second, they WILL stall in front of the third, and this bird will leave them in its supersonic wake.

The R3Rs are actually quite good, they're just situational. You'd be surprised how many free kills you can score with them at high alt.

I think a mistake people often make, is judging missiles in a vaccum. Sure, the R3R is a statistically bad missile, but you're going to have better-than-usual success with it when firing at mach 1.2 at 6000m from your MiG-21S.

R-3Rs are great for head-on kills at high altitudes, just climb at the start of the match and there's a 50%n chance you'll get an easy kill. Then hang around at high altitude while the battle escalates, then dive down and join in.

I love this jet. While its basic missiles are poor I think that they are under rated. The main issue is that air RB and match making in general is trash. I would love to see these reviews with more than just air RB in mind. I know you talked about ground pounding n stuff but what about its best roll. Dog fighting in ground RB. Its amazing at using Vietnam tactics. Stay low and fast and pop a G91 with radar missiles. Even in ground RB im up tiered to 10.3 or higher most the time and most people dont all run 10.3 or 10.7 so it still has a decent chance. I wack F4s and 105s all the time trying to bomb allies. On top of that i find it very strong with the 3r missiles against helis. The standard 3s really cant lock on to any heli heat as its broken. Even if you do manage a lock its either very close or with a lot of the 9.0+ heli who have the anit lock or engine heat mods and your missile flys off course. I have air mailed sooooo many 3r missiles to enemy Yh-64s, G-Lynx and prem Hinds.

Just got this for 50% off it is a super good plane but you need to be good at maneuvering so you don't get hit with missiles, overall it is for sure worth 5000 GE.

@@gavinlightfoot5521 depends what you’re looking for the do is good in general and the mig is decent with a skilled pilot and is situational I can even get kills with the s24 rockets in ground rb with it

quick question (if you read this) is there anything around this br with better cas ability? I prefer rockets over bombs and dont like the su7 chassis for some reason.

Glad you asked! I'll say that the Yak-38 is probably a good middle ground. It has a ballistics computer for rockets and also has ATGMs. More importantly, it can carry up to 4 S-24B rockets, which is excellent. It also can perform decently well in air to air combat and can run with a mixed AA missile/CAS loadout.

How to play MiG-21S. Immediately takeoff, climb to 6-7Km orienting towards the edge of the enemy’s climb area, head on every harrier you can using R3-R without bleeding too much speed, dive on A-10’s at the back, then play like a vulture the rest of the game. Low speed targets, anything over 3km of alt is good for using the radar missiles, A-10’s are easy kills. Usually leaving most games w 4-6 kills

i think you sleep on its CAS abilities - it can easily dodge stingers, the most common SAM at that br, and each of the 4 rockets it brings is a very easy tank kill.

I really have too disagree with the all aspect, rockets being mediocre. They’re only mediocre if you don’t know how to use them personally my method is I don’t shoot rockets unless I’m going Mach one to ensure faster hit time and only strike fast and high never low. I use this plane to grind Russian right now and it’s my only Russian plane that I’m using and I average 7 to 9 kills per match with this bad boy keep in mind I have spent over 1 million in crew qualifications and golden eagles for qualifications as well I can say after upgrading the crew, the jet perform so much better:)

Not all planes have a radar warning system

Only planes with RWR will get electronic warning of a lock, only for radar missiles, and only within certain elevation angles (usually +/-45 degrees). Better to get used to judging whether or not someone is in position to fire, and preventing it

My thing with this plane is i love it. The gun is so easy to aim and the plane itself PULL’s. However you are constantly uptiered to 10.3 due to the ONSLAUGHT of F-5c players

@@justinsane332 yeah I don't think he knows her one is the worst 10-hour the game it's missiles are really bad and it's live performance is the worst for any battle reading at that tier and is the slowest has the worst engine and I'm all the Harriers and is the highest of all the Harriers he gets more missiles for the worse than the American Harry is and the American hair is getaway lighter eframes and yeah and that's why the better knows I'm using text to speech and I'm in a car so this might not be right

I bought it yesterday, it took a little while to get used to (endless games with nothing) but when you get a bit used to it, you average 1-2 kills per game that gets you 10k rp and 20-30k sl which is pretty nice, it’s somewhat fun and you get used to cannons while kills with it are rare, they are extremely satisfying. The start is nerve racking but for only 30 bucks I’d say it’s worth it

mig21s defenetly, with yak you are gonna get 2 easy kills with r60 but it will get boring very fast as it requires no skill, at first you will perform worse in mig21s but after some time you will get much more fun and rp
