In her first interview with an African-American media outlet since the release of her blistering memoir Unhinged: An Insider’s Account of the Trump White House, Omarosa Manigault Newman spoke to TheGrio‘s Natasha Alford at her hotel in New York City Tuesday night.
Manigault Newman says that while she took the job in the White House to have a “seat at the table” for the Black community, she didn’t accomplish all she set out to do and has regrets-something she partly blames on vitriol against President Trump.
“Did you accomplish what you set out to accomplish for the Black community? Or what did you accomplish?” Alford asked.
“In some ways, I came up short,” Manigault Newman responded.

I'd never heard of The Grio (or even Natasha) prior to The BC interview. However, I will say that of all the videos I've viewed that involves Omarosa, (particularly facilitated by a POC), i can fully appreciate this one....including the comment section (those that I've viewed). Many of the other videos and comments I've seen bashing and denigrating Omarosa, as a POC, nauseate me! If black people were honest and transparent, they'd admit that most people, if given the opportunity, would, without hesitation, accept a six-figure salary, that comes with incredibly INSANE perks and pOweR!!! Yes....even if their boss was racist...or worse! Hell, most of us work for racists with just a fraction of Omarosa's pay! The average one would sell, not only their soul, but the soul of their children and their children's children! Look at lying despicable Katrina Pierson and Lynne Patton. ALL of them represent modern-day HNs (House "Ninjas"). They've made it crystal clear that there is no name that they can be called that's humiliating enough...degrading enough...reprehensible enough...to reject "Mr. Charlie". We ALL know people like them on a micro level. They just happen to be on a macro level. Yes, Trump created a Frankenstein named Omarosa. She's one of many of his clones which represent his perverted deceptive character. That SHOULD NOT and CANNOT be the focus right now! What's pOweRfuL is that she managed to ingeniously infiltrate the camp of the enemy - of the evil wicked kkklansmen - like no other and has secured the "ammunition" necessary to protect ourselves against this demonic Goliath in the WH. The question is....what will we do?

It took her a long time to figure out that Trump was a racist. As a so-called smart woman, why Omarosa did not research his history??? She very clearly made a huge mistake. I think that not only she needs to apologize to the African American community but donate all proceeds of her book to the community, If she wants to be taken seriously. That should be our (African American) calling card on Omarosa.

I'm with you Okoye. She is obviously an intelligent woman, so she could've checked on Trump's past racism. Her excuse on Trump's birther attack on Obama is pathetic and weak. She is just a woman scorned seeking revenge. I don't buy this black crusader role. But I see her as the necessary evil to take Trump down, and for that alone I am rooting for her.

While I am annoyed with Omorosa an apology to the Black community would be a good start. Black people are tired of being the the scapegoat for all of America's evils. She sold us out for her own self-enrichment. Again, an apology would be a good start! Further, I'm not buying the book. I will check it out at the local library! I am sure history will be kind to Omorosa"We" as she states are suspicious. I am anyway.

@Rahr, All due respect this is a democracy. You, me and the rest of America can say, think , and do as we wish. That is what makes America such a great country. In spite of Donald Duck saying he is "making america great again." As Black people we have a shared experience, linked fate and all have a right to participate in the discourse of everything regarding Black people. You can find me in the Political Science Department at Howard University where I am always available for discourse and direction regarding the Black experience. Finally, the only part of your statement that I disagree with is 'pettiness.' This is far from petty regarding a people who funded (by the crack of a whip and foot of the oppressor on their throat) the entire American hegemony into its greatest position in the world. Poetic Justice if she brings him down.

Thank you Breakfast Club for sending here! I really admire Natasha's interviewing style; it's very subtle and thought out. However, I'am still not %100 convinced that Omarosa is fighting the fight for the ppl!! What is her end goal as it relate to Black and Brown ppl? If she experienced all of this corruption, misogyny and racism in the White House, why wait so long to expose it? Comparing herself to MLK, she speaks as if she's this strong advocate and activist for the cause; it's so different. MLK went in with an agenda; she went in as a staff member( is she implying that she was some type of spy?).......Also, how will her mission impact policy change moving forward in American for Black and Brown ppl? She basically said that she's not running for office....Lastly, what was the deciding factor that led her to finally realize that Trump is a racist??? idk, but I will stay tuned for the outcome

Likeminded Likeme I’ve heard about Char’s charge that was dropped/dismissed or something. I personally don’t believe it, but you brought that up not me. Anyway, didn’t I say that I’d love nothing more than to believe that O is being genuine? I love her, always have...faults and all. But the O that I’ve watched all these years is about self preservation and advancement FIRST. Not saying she’s wrong for that, it just is what it is. And yes, the reason Trump has kept her around all these years is because she’s a shrewd, accomplished, take no prisoners businesswomen who assisted HIM in his rise to reality stardom. It was a mutually benefiting relationship, no doubt about it. But in my heart of hearts, I just find it difficult to believe that she would’ve willingly walked away from 179.5K working in the White House with no specified list of responsibilities. I just don’t. Still love her, and wish her nothing but success. No matter how vindictive she comes across, I always want her to win LOL

Of all the people who have worked in any white house why is she the only person who has ever been able to make tapes. Tasha, she can't spill it all yet. if she'd been recording and keeping receipts during the short time she was tied with an NDA ( during the campaign). this is where they'll get her. Tasha you need to pay attention , while you are at it , use her as an example for your dawta, because playing goody 2 shoe ain't working for black women. cos if whites think y'all have attitude, then be mean and conniving and smile fake.

After listening to this interview, I now can see why people were referencing Olivia Pope on Scandal. What happened in the Situation Room sounds like Shadra Rhimes wrote this as a script.

Personally I believe minorities need to be more supportive of her. I realize what she did but at this moment she is the only one who appears to be strong enough to stand up to Trump. I think Trump finally messed with the wrong person. We need to show her strength and be ready to protect her when Trump tries to bring her down. I totally believe she has the tea because she has said she felt she needed to cover her back. Call Omarosa whatever you want but she is not a stupid person. She's knows exactly what she is doing and she saw the writing on the wall with the others Trump has turned against.

15 years with HIM, Omarosa is just protecting her own ass and career. She knew, like all people of sense did he was a racist, before she started working with him. Omarosa is a sell out, who happens to now have goods on somebody we all of good moral character and sense hate, but she is not for the black people. I hope she brings him down and as far as I am concern she can go right along with him. Why, you say, again she IS A SELL OUT and knew she was hurting her people to get him elected and now she is suffering the fallout herself. KARMA IS A BITCH AND WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND!!!
