Senate Judiciary Committee chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, on Tuesday rejected the requests from Democrats to delay a key hearing on the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford, who has accused the federal judge of sexual assault during a party when they were in high school, are due to testify before the committee on Thursday. Kavanaugh has denied Ford's allegations.
In a letter to ranking member Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., Grassley wrote: "I am not going to silence Dr. Ford after I promised and assured her that I would provide her a safe, comfortable, and dignified opportunity to testify ... There is no reason to delay the hearing any further."
Grassley added that any further delay would be unfair to both Ford and Kavanaugh, whom Grassley said "has asked the Committee repeatedly for the chance to testify as soon as possible ... We can no longer stand in the way of him presenting his testimony before the Committee."

Keep in mind, I have yet to see the hearing in it's entirety but plan to once it is posted online as a re-broadcast. If... and I say if simply not because I have no faith that Hon. Kavanaugh is innocent, but I have faith in the due process of law in the United States of America, so I say it again... If he is proven, beyond a reasonable doubt, to be innocent, these three women, Dr. Ford, Ms. Ramirez, and the third who spontaneously decided to speak up just before the hearing, I forget what her name is, I suspect each has spoken should, but highly unlikely, to face charges. I can only suspect that they took a oath to tell the truth, the whole truth, nothing but the entire truth. In their final hour, prior to this hearing, each accuser has proceeded which means that either Kavanaugh, his friends, and Dr. Ford's long time friend (though I doubt now they are still friends today) are all lying or... the three women are lying. Regardless, if it is proven, again beyond a reasonable doubt, that they had lied under oath... they should receive prison time, where likely they will be sexually assaulted by fellow inmates. Regardless, even if they do not see the face of a federal judge for bearing false witness, odds are they will not be so much as reprimanded by their employers, naming Dr. Ford's university for example.

How can people watch this and hers and not be able to recognize that her claims are unequivocally false? Oh yeah... because they don’t watch this. They watch her statement (entirely unconvincing even if watched on its own) and believe her without blinking. Ridiculous... the part where he said “they put themselves on the line for me. Those are some awesome women”. How can you believe a man who so clearly respects women could do such a thing? He’s literally the worst person they could have ever chosen to make a smear campaign about... I mean the diaries, the safe drinking, etc. My goodness😞

are you out of your mind? he is not reviewing a case where he is expected to remain neutral, he is fighting for his life. he realizes that he is obviously the center of a character assasination...how do you expect him to react?

raudel oruna I realize the situation he and his family is in, isn't something that can be dealt with in a rational manner, but you have to remember that he is speaking in an official capacity, in an official senate hearing, to determine his candidacy to the supreme court. Bi-partisanship, self control and the ability to remain objective under pressure, are requisite qualities of a Supreme Court Judge, and unfortunately he really did cave. Remember, this is a lifetime appointment, there's no turning back once someone is sitting up on that bench - these people are literally the top law officials in the country.
