I appreciate everything you are selling. It is a good attempt.I question one aspect: DOES YOUR PRODUCT PREVENT, " wind driven FINE pine needles landing AND FOEVER shedding from surrounding trees . . . COLLECTING , " and plugging the roof ridge vent.TRUE STORY: After being on a 3/12 pitched roof for a year and one half I spent 4 hours vacuuming STICKY ( sap soaked ) needles out of the crevasses. To be fair I am not sure which brand of ridge vent was used ? ? ? Your advice would be appreciated . Thank you

Hello, I understand your concern. In the design of a ridge vent, Lomanco feels there are 2 factors which are equally important and should supersede any factors - the capacity to ventilate and weather protection. Put another way, the vent should move as much air as possible without allowing any infiltration. At Lomanco, we call this the Lomanco Balance. These features will protect your attic from weather, but also play a role in the capacity to ventilate - which will help the vent remain clear of any blockage. Our ridge vents have features such as offset aerodynamic curved internal baffles, molded end plugs, and an external baffle system that includes perpendicular omni baffles. These features have been engineered into the design of the product and careful consideration has been paid to air flow vs protection. During calm wind conditions and even more when there are winds present, the ridge vent will be moving air. With this steady flow of air pushing out of the vent, the omni is effectively keeping debris from blocking the vents. A hard rain will also disperse any debris that may be blocking the baffles. With all that being said, There are always unique and special situations that may require a different approach to properly ventilate a home. Sometimes a ridge vent is not the best solution. Lomanco offers a full line of exhaust vents and intake vents.

Somewhere I saw a video of a similar product & he was laying down a fiberglass mesh 1st. Is that a good idea?

If you think you need the enhanced weather protection for your area you should go with OR4_S Model. This model includes a built-in screen for enhanced weather protection.

I'm hubby of Connie & will try to replace existing anemic product with OR-4 myself. 72 now & much slower, can I replace a few sections at a time & leave uncapped & cover nails with silicone? Or should I cap as I go along?

For maximum weather protection, I would cap if I could not finish the job.
