@@JoshJPickleball what I’m currently working on is keeping my strokes much more compact, elbows in tighter, and always resetting to a good ready position . That’s helping every aspect of my game especially counters at the net. If you have any nuances or tips on those that’d be awesome! I saw a video with data that like 80% of shots at 4.0ish are not dinks. And that’s been my experience at tourneys as well so far.

I like how student explains you don’t have to do 1 dinks because not challenged enough. Love the video! The 1 and 2 dinks is a quick way to identify aggressive and easier dinks- also love how you say early and open. You also identify his tendency to lean rather than bend. Also love the 2 and through. Constant feedback well done. It also shows how it’s hard to fix bad habits!

Dude this is freaking awesome. My son & I are 4.6 and i am trying to learn a 5.5 Dink (without regular access to 5.5 playas to model after)...and literally have not been able to figure out the technical holes in my dink game to figure out where i need to self-correct my shots in order to hit the ball technically correct. Too many times "hitting a good dink w/bad technique reinforces me to hit that same shot again". But your vid is the 1st time i finally understand how to analyze & breakdown where MY faulty technique is as compared to a Pro-style 5.5/6 style dink. And what was amazing is that i could see how you threw TONS of new techniques @Preston & i could self-identify WHY & HOW he was not exectuting them correctly at times b/c your instruction was so pinpoint accurate. Plus having TWO instructors was epic b/c at times Preston executed better when a 2nd Instr offered a diff metaphor or approach to the same tactic. And kudos to Preston - what a wicked gr8 student...it actually helped to see on occasion how he could NOT apply the tactic but thru trial & error was able to get closer to the To Be State. Seriously - the Best. Technical. Advanced. Dink. Instruction. EVAAAH. Saving & Subsribing to *all* your crap from now on, dog. I'm proclaiming it, Josh - 5.5 my son & i here we come.....WELL DONE MATIES!

Amazing video 10/10. I have watched a lot of drinking videos but this is the best explanation of all the small things that combined make the dink shot consistent and effective. I will rewatch this a number of times as there is so much info to remember to take to the court to drill. The instruction format from both of you allows the specific details to be shown/corrected and still keep the instructional flow moving. New subscriber looking forward to watching your other videos . Oh man, this is freaking awesome. It’s great when you’re critiquing someone who’s decently advanced! Could you do a video of what type of 3rd shot drops there are and how to use each of them depending on the pace. For example, if I’m on the baseline, ball is coming to my backhand at a fast pace, and I decided to do a drop, do I slice or should I attempt backhand drop with top spin - and describe the angle of how my paddle should be facing. Stuff like that.

I agree- so much to digest. Caleb is a friend of Prestons from their spikeball glory days and we only had one afternoon to work with him while he was town. Without the their existing relationship and being in a time crunch, we wouldn’t have dug into that much in a single lesson. Great observation! If you could take one thing away from the lesson, get the paddle face open and paddle head below the ball when dinking!

Geez. How hard is it to just show the poor guy how to hold an open face instead of trying to explain it! The info is good but the delivery is explained in a complicated manner. Like the sum of three,,, just say if you get a defensive dink ,hit a push dink and viceversa. But still, great video. Thank you!

Very weak footwork and poor anticipation. More like 3.5 tops probably.
@JoshJPickleball4 ай бұрын
Tough to gauge rating just by watching drilling but I do appreciate the feedback. Definitely could improve footwork in the dink patterns and leaning middle anticipating the dink. But in general, strong player with lots of athleticism. You should see his counters and volleys!
@rosariarose41814 ай бұрын
Give him a break, he’s breaking out of his comfort zone to learn better techniques. This is why most rec players don’t get better. They are not willing to get worse first in order to improve ( going outside comfort zone).
