The Sheriff is correct. I was a police officer way back, in the 70's, and 80's. I am 72 years old. I still have nightmares, and thoughts, of some horrific things I have seen, and heard. I hope all of the law enforcement community, who worked this case, gets mental health services offered, to them. They never offered that, in my day.

I am a retired RN for a decade now who cared for adults and infants on ventilators during part of my career. I have taken care of those types of wounds on various patients. I cannot fathom how anyone could sit and watch that progression of disease in such a little body. He is free now and in my heart he is with the Angels. The already-incarcerated prisoners are usually told a day or so ahead of time that new prisoners are coming in, and what the crime was. This couple won't like what's done to them; they'll pretty much find out how terribly their baby suffered....and it won't be a one-time lesson. My ex-husband found out the hard way---the really hard way, and it wasn't for a crime as terrible as this, although it was a wicked one.

Same here! My son is 19 and autistic as well as developmentally delayed. He can be a handful and drives me crazy sometimes, but I love him and my other son so much! I can never ever fathom hurting my children! Long story, when he was 9, his teachers abused him physically and mentally. They hit him with hard covered books, their hands, scream at him, and would lock him in a dark closet for hours!! Again, he's 19 now, but I still get so emotional talking about it.....oh yeah, and the teachers were reassigned... and my husband and I had a truancy case filed on us because our son was too terrified to go to school, but he could never tell us.

There's only one reason I can think of, why ANYONE would go against medical advice and take such a sick, hopeless case of a brain death injured child, home. And that's to collect the money for "caring" for the child and the disability/SSI check for this kid. That's why they DIDN'T want anyone coming in, they didn't CARE about the child, they CARED about the check. As soon as the gig was up and the baby started decomposing, they KNEW it was game over and that's probably why they didn't allow anyone to see the baby. Saying the baby was sleeping and they didn't want to wake the baby's ridiculous, the kid was in a coma, which means they're always "sleeping". I'm a disabled RN, I'm telling you that NO ONE is that dumb, that the horrific smell of a decomposing body, wouldn't alert ANY normal person to CALL for help asap. Those bedsores, that were SOO deep the spinal cord was exposed and there was NO anus, just exposed intestines, that does NOT happen overnight. It takes MONTHS or longer to get to that point. The abdomen was green and bloated because they were likely continuing the tube feedings into the baby's DEAD BODY in order to continue the facade that they were still ordering and recieving the formula or liquid feedings & supplies needed to continue caring for the poor baby. GREEN is caused by gangrenous tissue that's DEAD AND ROTTING. Open, dead tissue attracts flies, who lay eggs which turn into maggots that feed on the dead tissue. I have NO doubt that this was the most HORRIBLE thing any of them have ever witnessed. I've seen some things I will NEVER UNSEE. My first day as a student nurse, my patient had tried to kill himself. He put a shotgun under his chin and pulled the trigger. He blew half of his face away and lived. Minus half of his face. 😳 But I have NEVER heard of or seen a baby in such a horrific condition that this poor baby was in. I can only hope that the baby didn't have the capacity to feel ANY pain. But that does NOT excuse the actions and inaction of those so called parents. That baby was a paycheck, nothing more to them. And it does require a LOT OF care to manage a child who's on a ventilator and gets tube feedings. But THEY made the commitment to do it and there's NO other reason than $$. Even if in the beginning they hoped the baby would wake up, the accident happened in 2020. At some point they had to realize the baby wasn't going to wake up and that there were NO changes in the condition. And I wonder if they were negligent in the drowning situation as well. This is just sick, and I hope they get the maximum penalty allowed by the law. No one should show ANY mercy on them, they showed NONE for their own baby.

Also what he describes is what happens when someone is dying but hooked up on machines, the decubitus wound doesn't mean he was neglected, he was just dying and developed these wounds fast. Violin callus I don't think you understand what brain dead means and what being put on a ventilator means. It means the child died ten months old. Not 2 years old And means that a body cannot last on a ventilator for two years without some form of decomp. The poor parents probably couldn't let their baby go so they were holding onto as much and for as long as possible. Especially with her other two children being completely healthy and well taken care of. People are looking at this the completely wrong way. I hold whatever doctor or Hospital that approved of this happening. And why didn't home healthcare reach out to the doctor and say hey we're not able to see the baby? There's nothing anybody could have done to save this baby's life because the baby died at 10 months old. And the Machine has just been keeping it slowly decaying over the last two years. I really don't think this officer really knows what the medical terms of brain-dead means. Or what it means to be on a ventilator for two years being only a tiny baby. Because the baby was brain dead. Therefore the baby died at 10 months old. A little body of that size cannot last 2 years on a ventilator being fed through a tube without decomp. Even if the baby would have been in a hospital setting the body would not have lasted because it can't because it is already dead. When my son pass away I held him for hours I mean hours and it took everybody to let me let him go. So I understand. But blaming these parents for not wanting to let their baby go is not okay cuz regardless being on a ventilator from 10 months old 2 years old the baby's body will not last especially with it being brain dead that means it already past there's no hope it will never come back. The baby did not suffer because it did not feel anything because it already passed away. If you have a brain waves and you're put on a ventilator and you're in a coma that's a totally different scenario.

I know a couple who does foster care in MO that abused and tortured my little brother. Starting at age 4 he was r@pd by their son and would put out cigarettes on him. When we told the counselor he called us liars. Years later at 15 he ran away, the state didn’t believe him still. They made a choice to not pull the plug without a understanding of what that would really mean. They were likely pushed into poverty and doing round the clock intensive care. Having someone come for 1 hour 3 times a week isn't really the type of assistance you need in such situations. They probably started skimping on care as the baby had no reaction anyway so was not showing signs of pain. The baby probably got sores and infected. They likely tried to handle it themselves and then they felt it was too late to ask for help or take him to the hospital for fear of losing their other children and maybe neglect or abuse charges. Then the baby would have deteriorated over the months. 😢 it's horrific and wrong. They deserve to be punished in the worst ways. But it wasn't for money and the story that they had all the help they could possibly need and were even getting income from it is likely a wild misrepresentation of the reality. 😢 I work in non-profit and I see families that have to deal with have extremely disabled family members in the home. They never get anything close to all the help they should have.

Child should of never been sent home. Home health should of notified CPS when care was refused. A lot of people failed this child. If the parents refused help child should of been removed. Ventilators are supposed to be checked every month and changed out every six months. What happened to the RTs. I wouldn’t say this originally wanted checks when there baby drowned . I believe they stop doing what they was supposed to for that child and after that child ended up with huge bedsores they didn’t want to ask for help in fear dcf would take there other kids . I don’t believe they was worry about dcf as much as crimnal charges for the neglect of that poor baby . They got lazy and they stop treating him as human . They smelled that smell and saw that the oxygen was too low and most likely waited longer and longer and decided that they had to either pretend they wanted to get emergency help or be faced with not calling for help in the end . She knew they was gonna get in a lot trouble !! I really wish the home health company that they had for two years would of spoken up . Im not surprised no one call dcf tho or did some type of welfare check or something .

Remember too that there are parents who allow their children to receive puberty blockers, have daughters to have breasts removed, penis & vagina mutilations. It’s called PRIDE! GOD HELP US ALL!

I feel so bad for that man that has to talk about how pathetic people can get. Imagine the stress level he endures on a monthly basis.
