We need Sherriff Grady to give some advice to Ocala on how to clean up the promenade. There's a bunch of good hearted kids living here and the only time Officers interact with them is when there's a shooting or shoot out. They ride through,windows rolled up,dont wave,dont nod, dont show the car to the children. Any C.O.P. units in Ocala. We definitely need better public relations with our local beat officers. I'm speaking from a ex law enforcement state of mind. I'm new to Florida but Georgia may have a better mission statement because if you think you can stop or prevent crimes by being storm troopers and arrests everybody and anything your wrong, dead wrong. Start building relationships with some of these young kids, you can use your spidey senses to pick the good ones. At least try. These Ocala Officers need confidence training to learn to look people in their eyes.

Like when he's PO'd about the dude invoking his Constitutional Right against "self incrimination" (that's like a "suspect" saying they want a lawyer, and will remain silent until "they" show, and you keep questioning/interrogating them anyway). You can't have it both ways, and Sheriff Grady will, shown by his past & present comments, and if given the chance, will "violate" a persons Constitutional Rights in a heartbeat. Whenever I'm feeling a bit fed up with life I tune into Sheriff Judd telling me the trouble that a new set of folks have got into. I pour a coffee out .put my feet up and say to myself ' just look where you could be at this very moment if you were up to no good in Polk County'. Then I pour out another coffee and life isn't quite so bad after all. Not facing a court case. Not facing a fifteen or twenty year sentence. Not a thing to complain about really. I can go for a stroll around the neighbourhood afterwards. Complete freedom. What a luxury.

I was present when the Feds collected a whole lot of Outlaws in WPB in the 90's. I have friends in protective custody that I have not seen since. Every county needs a Grady Judd. He has a way of remaining calm while being THE BOSS and I'll bet he backs his deputies to the max - as long as they do their job but God help anyone in his office that turns dirty. I also like how always maintains control of the press conference. No one shouting out stupid questions or trying to bait him. Somehow I think they know not to piss him off.

Yes, in Polk County with a population of 724K it is 18 officers per 10K civilians, so roughly 1,260 officers between 12 sheriff departments. Body cams run around $450-650 each, that would bring the total to 500K-650K. That is a small amount to invest so we can make sure we’re keeping everyone honest. 1600 public employees in Polk County alone, there is no lack of workers to process these body cams.

Mention suspicious activity knowing that footage can be requested, put on TV? Even the footage of your home? I don’t want that shown.

So law enforcement wants to charge the man for killing his girlfriend. Did he really do that? Did he really kill his girlfriend? What about the man who actually shot his girlfriend? Should he get off scot free? Maybe we need to look at this from a law enforcement perspective. If you are a law enforcement officer on the job and someone shoots you and you return fire and happen to kill an innocent bystander by mistake, wouldn't you want to blame the whole thing on the one that shot you? What if somebody has a hostage they are using for protection? Would you put a bullet through both of them and blame the whole thing on the hostage taker? I suppose this all began with someone who started a building on fire and as a result some firemen died in the course of putting out the fire.
