Excellent review. I've seen these on the interweb and was wondering how good they really are. I have a pair of Infinity Gloves that I just love. I also have a pair of the new Thokks that I got on the cheap form a former club member who was an original backer but who has since reansitioned to Eastern martial arts. The Thokks are good (in my opinion) for anything short of high intensity longsword. I use them a lot for drilling.

The thokk weapon masters to me are perfect for sidesword, and I was hoping these would be an alternative.

I had mentioned Gabriel in my equipment purchase presentation for new students. After your review I've just gone ahead and removed all mentions of it. I don't think they're worth consideration especially at that price point.

People need to decide what their risk profile is. I think if an advanced practitioner wants to use them, there is a market for that. Case in point, I will still use mine in particular circumstances. (primarily longsword/Montante) but I will use other gloves for other weapons, especially one-handed weapons.

Ok. I have used my Gabriels for 5 years, full contact steel sparring. I own black knights infinities etc. Gabriels are the best by far

Thanks a lot for this in-depth, hard but fair. Super useful to see the closeups of how the various one-handed swords fit. After 1.5 months of use including one longsword tournament, I still love the gloves and use them for most weapons most of the time. But I agree with every single point you've made. Imho the price would be more competitive if it was closer to the SG Infinity. 40-50 bucks less would be appropriate. As for heavier weapons, I also wouldn't recommend these gloves to newer people. Still haven't received any injuries myself but I can see and feel various risk factors, primarily concerning the side plane of the index finger. One positive thing I noticed (in particular during my last tournament) was that I was less exposed to incidental shallow hits to the hands than I would have with a more bulky clamshell mitten. And it's much easier to grip some of my thinner and more slippery handles that I haven't wrapped with multiple layers of hockey tape, yet. Mobility is really great, grip switching has never felt more smooth and I find disarms easier to pull off as well as not getting disarmed myself - this is in regards to longsword.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. As I said I can only relate my experiences, and like you I do plan to keep and use the gloves for situations where they serve me best.
