The weak point you pointed out on the knife edge of the hand / little finger, is exactly where I got hit by a backsword, and that shattered my last knuckle and caused a spiral fracture in my little finger and required screws and plates. I almost lost the finger. So, it may be the only real weak point, but all it takes is one hit.

Yeah, these are looking good, about time there was something for everything between rapier and longsword. On the weak spot on the underside- could that be (partially) protected by a pommel? If you feel like doing a supplementary video, it would be useful to see these with stuff like bucklers and maybe that complex-hilt dussack, although I'm guessing they fit both.

the padding is a foam infused with a non-newtonian gel (or that otherwise has been engineered to have those properties) to give distribution of force during impact while maintaining flexibility and mobility when impact forces are not present; lotta types of this concept exist and which formulation is used dictates the specific performance

Thanks a lot for this review, I really got my hopes up for a good sidesword glove. :)

Thank you for putting this together so quickly - maybe mine will be waiting for me when I get home next week. ;-)

Seems like we are one step closer to getting the perfect Hema gloves.

Interesting, but they feel very clumsy to me compared to my historical steel gauntlets. Also, there is no pinkie protection to speak of, so an under cut to the side of the hand is painful. In our club's I glued on some small nylon plates to protect the pinkie.

Looks really solid. Hopefully they're easier to get ahold of than the progauntlets.

Update? I've heard from a bunch that the plates crack super easily.

Thanks for the first look at the Bad Ass Design overlay. They haven't been demonstrated anywhere else that I can determine.

these seem like the spiritual successor or heavy, modular version of the gajardoni gloves

Would you be comfortable using them for longsword without the additional guard in a non-tournament context but with moderate to high intensity? I used to use Sparring Glove Specials, but I haven't found a replacement yet. I currently use Sparring Gloves Hooves and while they are ok, I'd really prefer finger gloves. But the Progauntlets don't fit me in their current available stock size (and are quite expensive) and the Infinity Gauntlets have like 1 year wating time.

Did you ever look at the infinity glove off sparring glove?

I haven’t, I would love to try them.

Would these fit inside the dorothea dussack from Landsknecht Emporium? Im still looking for lighter sparring gloves for ine handed and complex hilt swords like the dorothea

Hi Dave, I saw you make a video for the KZbin channel "Insider" where you rated 10 sword fighting scenes from movies. Me being left handed it got me wondering how much more or less of a challenge is it when a right handed person faces off against a left handed person where the sword arms are mirroring each other rather than diagonally opposed each other? Thank you. 👍.
@kaizen50232 жыл бұрын
Since most people in fencing clubs are right-handed, we get the most practice facing off against righties. So you have an advantage, especially against an inexperienced person. But someone with a lot of experience will be used to facing righties and lefties, or even able to switch hands themselves.
@stephennettles2309 Жыл бұрын
We have several lefties in our club and they are definitely a challenge to fight, but they also struggle against other lefties so a lot of it comes down to what you're used to fighting against most often.

Thanks for setting *Elden Ring* straight. Mind reacting to *Hellish Quart?* It's also just a video game but I'm sure it will fair better. It prides itself as a HEMA game after all.
