The face on the series 1sounds like the PU face like Diadem uses on the A52. Feels like rubber, a bit sticky. The ICON version one also had this face.

I do like the Proton nanotech. However, Charles exaggerates such as Meghan or Daescu using just one initially for a long period. However, I do try to recommend their paddles because of their tech.

The nanotech face on my type 1 is melting. Turning to glue. Looking like pine tar because it picks up dirt.

These paddles are pretty heavy though at least the original versions, seeing a lot in person that are coming in at 8.5 or higher which is unplayable for most of us
