I'm 67 years old, I was born/lived on Mercer Island, Sea Fair has been a part of my life for 40 years. I'm now in San Antonio Texas and I've never missed this race. The parody between the boats seems closer than it ever has been. The safety of boats seems as good as it ever has been. They no longer break like they used to, this is boat racing at it's best. Driver's skill is ridiculous. Never better

Never Better? I totally dis agree. It looks like a dying sport to me, 4 boats per 3 lap heats? The final...5 laps...a far cry from the mid fifties thru the 80's, when they were actually "Thunder Boats" racing 7,8 or 9 lap races and the sound could be heard for miles, I lived about 4 miles east of Renton when I was a teen and you could hear them. I grew up on the South end of Beacon Hill when I was even younger and every summer I would look forward to the Hydro races, the Goodyear Blimp, and The Blue Angles and the party like atmosphere along the lake. Around the mid '90's I took my children driving in from Woodinville with bikes in tow. Well guess what, they had fenced off the entire lake shore and were charging admission and this was on Saturday (the day before the Unlimited Races) I took my kids to see the Blue Angles Practice (mainly) that day because many times Saturday was a better longer aerial display than "race day" and fewer people I also wanted my kids to see the Pit area and boats up close well that never happened. I never went to another Hydro race, my kids not in their 30's have never been. Honestly I don't know how it's survived this long. So NO it's NOT as "good as it's ever been"

I think when it came around to lap three, the wind, rough water, ended Andrew's chances, in my opinion. At Adrew held on for two laps, proud of Jmk he has been working his rear end off, and it paid off. I'm proud of Andrew he kept going for it even when Jmk was ahead of him.

As a child in the early 70's (living in Canada) Vancouver Island we watched JP Patchs every morning except Sunday ! we were always up to speed leading to the SEAFAIR gold cup race with the voice of PAT DAY, my favorite was always Bill Muncie and the ATLAS VAN LINES !
