Wanted to let you guys at Function Factory know your video inspired me to purchase, and install, the Full Race intercooler kit, and oil catch can. However, I do not own an F-150; I've got a 2016 Expedition. Ended up getting the kit for the 2011-14 F-150; as the engine bay is set up like the 2016 Expedition. The intercooler install was straightforward; maybe a little easier as I did not have to remove the front grille. I did have to modify the intercooler mounting frame OEM hardware to fit the new intercooler mount. Just had to ground down the "hat" of the bolt, and washer, as they were a bit too wide to line up with the hole without hitting the mount frame. Straight forward other than that. As far as the oil catch can goes I had to get a little more creative. First, the Expedition does not have mounting points/ bolts on the firewall. So, I used riv-nuts in the same area to mount the catch can. Also had to make an "H" pipe style hose adapter for the driver side catch can ports; one for each charge pipe coming off the turbo. This was necessary to house the flow meter sensor that the F-150 does not have in that location. After that...DONE!!! 471hp and 732lbs-ft torque (used the rear wheel numbers to come up with these numbers using the 15-20% loss rule) at the flywheel after Elite Performance and Tune in Littleton, CO got done with it. I am SUPER happy with the results. Wish I would have visited your shop after the install; live about 20 minutes away. I will make it a point to stop by the next time I'm in town from a work trip. I did go by Full Race to get smaller stickers to put on the truck. They were surprised I got it on there... told me it wouldn't work. Then I pointed out the window... drive.google.com/file/d/1pv68n0ZxAynh1YUkUzm7--w8V_NfskeS/view?usp=drivesdk drive.google.com/file/d/11-XS0fBxEwL35DetG1rNNsvbKHHgCArb/view?usp=drivesdk drive.google.com/file/d/1hC1VMp6IU2Ntt5sjRFSklKPU-IfjdfMh/view?usp=drivesdk drive.google.com/file/d/16Au6dvFIbixpcVG1wPqApHRldMptLwtE/view?usp=drivesdk drive.google.com/file/d/1XgewAqH8U0zXd_MdIiWRNjrfxbqAioYU/view?usp=drivesdk drive.google.com/file/d/1WchmHN05ECs-kwzZ-4b1nivwa80oOD6h/view?usp=drivesdk drive.google.com/file/d/1ete8AskDqWbnaFqF8ZXQCsGuUL3TG5K2/view?usp=drivesdk drive.google.com/file/d/1aC5SwJenQHi3cLxtm6eQitJVCwXZ90AA/view?usp=drivesdk

Took me 2 days, but I was in no rush (also pulled the bumper and installed winch plate and winch, my whole reason for doing this). I agree, the hose clamps have a terrible range, they dont open far enough to easily slide them onto the couplings, and if the nut falls off, its next to impossible to get it re-threaded. Why don't they just open a little more? Is there a reason we're not using worm gear clamps here? Another issue: I had to cut a notch in the top mounting bracket in order to clear the center spring on the hood latch mechanism. A good quarter of an inch. Compared to every video I'm watching, My top bracket is sitting almost an inch higher. Everything else lines up, I'm fully seated on the lower bracket and grommets. Not an issue once installed, but worth mentioning since I found all the Full Race tolerances to be very good. Also, the instructions are very good, you just need to download them and print them out.

Maybe this will help! I installed full race radiator & inner cooler & trans cooler with a tune. Make sure you get something like BD diesel hose clamps, the clamps full race gives you suck! I blew the clamps out of the gate! I then put the BD clamps on no issues. A small sorta issue but for the investment already made the $20.00 ea. Clamps were worth it !

Ok after having completed it. (12+ hour job) this video was good....but there are several minor things that were glossed over that can can help out the average guy doing this in the garage. I’ll make an update video or potentially write the details that can help at a later date.

What are the pros and cons of doing this?
@FunctionFactoryPerformance Жыл бұрын
That are no cons what so ever. The pros are better gas mileage, more power, and your engine will be happy when towing.

Checkout this video… towards the end he tells you what to do. Unfortunately, it’s not the best, but all I could find. I didn’t document mine install with pics of this area. Wish I had of now. kzbin.info/www/bejne/mILFY6mdgJd7o5I

This seems like a lot of work If it takes me another second to reach 80 miles an hour do y’all that’s worth it
@FunctionFactoryPerformance Жыл бұрын
Its decent, we've done it many times and the FMIC is a worth the upgrade if you are towing or wanting to make more power.

Bro. I don’t care how good this thing is. The install is fucking terrible. No instructions in the box for your specific year. OEM Bolts for lower bracket not compatible (wasn’t long enough had to make a trip to Lowe’s). Terrible lighting to see exactly what this guy is doing (top bracket in front or behind hinge..) the couplers are INSANELY TIGHT. Like unworkable tight......clown me all you want. I’m not a pro but I’m no damn slouch with mechanics...Just be warned when you order this. The video is not anywhere close to accurately representing difficulty.

What year and exact model of F150 do you have?

@@FunctionFactoryPerformance 2018 Ford king ranch 4x4. I’m literally under my truck right now and the provided clamps for the 2.5 coupler for stock hot side pipes physically won’t fit.

Literally every step has been a pain in the ass. Been going since 7 this morning. Lol watched the 24 min video where everything just fit perfectly 😂
