A question as someone who did some sambo and curious to shifting to BJJ (I adore aesthetics of this martial art): Why do they strive to fall to the ground at the beginning of the fight? They almost immediately crouch and lie down on the ground. Are they trying to take a defensive position? And why don’t they try to execute some kind of takedown? Thank you for your answers.

Lolol the IBJJF lol the attendance looks like a local NAGA.... thats how irrelelvant its become. Being an IBJJF "world champion" means nothing now that most of the best dont compete in it

This tourney was super small, even the ever large black belt medium heavy division was super light at the tourney. The ibjjf is a joke to all except the most committed Brazilians at thus point
