Good choice on preservation, rather than a full on restoration. The older bikes have a lot of character and good quality components that last a long time, nice to see another one back on the road, Thanks.

What a beautiful restoration! I had a lovely 1966 Raleigh Golden Deluxe Sports bicycle, which was similar to this one. It brought back many happy memories. Hope t see more restorations. L

I've watched a lot of old snoopy reruns on tv as a kid in the 90s. This bike reminds me of Lucy and Linus little brother Re-run. His mom always strapped him in the bike seat and this kid is doing his best to make sure his mom and himself ALIVE. Lovely job on the restoration keep up the good work.

A lovely, low key restoration.I did my 1963 Raleigh a couple of years back.Would've been flummoxed for spare parts- on a worldwide basis- except for one man.That's Mr Katsaris in Athens who still has a lot of new old stock.Had a new front wheel completely respoked by him.

If you do not have a cotter pin press the best way to install it is with a 16oz brass or copper hammer..when you strike the cotter pin you may damage the bearings..the brass is softer than the bearings..great job..

Very good result for a lot of work! Funny you even restored the child's seat and the bag! As if they are part of the bike. You removed the rust from the inside of the rims. When I did that long time ago) I then painted it with primer or something like that. Moist gets in there through the spoke holes, and it will continue to rust if untreated. Just a remark. Curious about the next one.

This brought back memories of the first bike of mine which I can remember vividly. I must have been 10 and it was a brown Raleigh in Holland - full chain guard, no gears (my Dad's green Raleigh had 3 gears, wow!) and only a coaster brake but it was very effective. I loved that bike dearly. ❤️ You did a wonderful job. I'm going to have to get an old Raleigh, hopefully in maroon. I'll see if I can put a Nexus on it for the local hills and maybe a front hub motor (but I'm not sure). Thank you and all the best. 👍

You did a much better job than I did. I used mineral spirits to degrease and clean the oily bits on my '74.

Nice detailed restoration. I'm currently doing the same with a 70's Raleigh Sprite men's 10-speed. Glad it's not that Sturmey Archer 3 sp with a hundred little parts!
Lol I rode around on the identical child's seat except in red plaid 😃

Raleigh has always been a slightly delusional kind of company. Very entertaining manufacturing tendencies for sure…….

Hi there. Very nice job, just a small thing i think i saw the chain link faceing the wrong way, closed end should face the direction of travel, so if it gets caught it wont get pushed off. Keep up the good work.

You make me cringe with your use of a crescent wrench, and as for using tyre levers to install a tyre, shame on you. However, nothing but admiration in pulling apart a three speed hub, well done. The wrench and tyre levers would have got me a clip round the ears from my old man back in the late 50's.
@OkayBikeRestorations-jt2rk5 ай бұрын
haha you're the second person to comment on the wrench! Is it that it's overkill or I just used it incorrectly??
