Thanks so much for this video! You applied during the year with the most applicants but you still shined through with your application. You've really given me hope because I got the same MCAT score as you but I have really strong EC's and a 3.95 science gpa yet I was still afraid that I wasn't competitive enough because my mcat isn't close to their medians. Congrats on getting in! This video made my day :)

Hey Jane, thank you!! I totally get it. Hopefully schools will understand that everyone’s applications are gonna be a little different for the next few years honestly! Good luck to you, let me know if there’s any questions you have regarding the whole process! I’d be happy to answer any questions in another video :)

Hi Ally! Thank you so much for making this video. It’s so helpful! I noticed that for the experience “That’s My Farmer Program Volunteer”, you only have 50 hours and you put it as one of your most meaningful experiences. I didn’t know it’s ok to do that. I have an experience that I only have about 60 hours and think it’s one of my most meaningful experiences. Do you think adcom would frown if they see me have very few hours for an experience and mark it most meaningful?
@allybenedict3 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I don't think quantity is as important as quality! I'm not on an ADCOM, obviously, but I think they care more about what you learned and why it was important versus how long you spent at it. I think anything that really changed your outlook about something is worth mentioning!!
@JasonKrastein2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I totally agree with Ally. It's hard to say from our experience but it is important to describe it as best you can. How did your app cycle go?

Great job! We have very similar stats. I am curious about your personal statement- did it relate specifically to any of those activities? Meaningful experiences? Or did you describe something novel?
@allybenedict3 жыл бұрын
Hey there! If you haven't, you should check out my personal statement video. I definitely go through my scribing experience but add stuff that wasn't on my activities list.
@JasonKrastein2 жыл бұрын
I think it depends on what your theme is. You are able to touch into the same activity but I would definitely touch on a different specific experience. Another tip, I would not make the activity that you focus on the PS would not make it a most meaningful. How did you app cycle go?

Hi Ally! Thank you so much for posting this video! What schools did you apply to and how did you decide them?

Hi Carlos! I applied to 5 DO schools and 5 MD schools. I picked them based on location & how well my "stats" aligned with their averages. :)

This is so helpful! How many hours did it take for you to complete primary application excluding the Personal statement and activity section?
@allybenedict3 жыл бұрын
Hey Sashini! I'm SO glad you found this video to be helpful. Other than the activities & personal statement, it's basically just a bunch of click boxes / entering your grades. I would say this part took me 3ish hours and I double/triple checked it to make sure everything was accurate! :)

I love your content and I’m applying to med school next year and I was wondering if there are any amcas application templates out there so I can draft my application and work on it over an extended period of time. I want to do that so I can submit as early as possible. If there isn’t would you mind sending me a copy of your application with all of your info blacked out?

Great video! I am also taking dual enrollment classes and I want to retake my bio class because I got a B on it. I am planning to take it during the summer because I want a high GPA. Is it a good idea to retake a B?
@allybenedict3 жыл бұрын
Hey Eymen! Congrats on getting ahead. I think it’s total personal preference and depends on what type of program you’re hoping to be accepted into. I have a few B’s and still had a fairly high GPA! Depends on how you want to spend your time ☺️

How'd you make up for a sub 125 score on BB? I thought that was a big thing they look for.
@allybenedict3 жыл бұрын
Hey there! This is a tough question to answer, because I guess you cant "make up" for a low score.. but I guess I would say that the process at lots of schools is really holistic so they take into account a lot more than just your MCAT score :)

Love your videos can you do one all about rec letters and how to decide if you should get 2 science profs , one humanities professor, some one you volunteered for, someone you worked for in healthcare ex. Coordinator of hospital volunteer program . Am I on the right track ? Do you need a physician letter for both do and md apps? If time can you also address what you think about DO ? Did you scribe with any DO’s ? Congratulations on your acceptances so far!!!

@allybenedict3 жыл бұрын
You’re right, no research for me. Personally I’m not super interested in lab work and I was really adamant about only doing things I was genuinely passionate about so that I would enjoy doing it and be able to enjoy talking about it in interviews! I think some schools definitely require research, but not all!
