Yeah, besides school zones, which the team should tackle by adding info to maps as I've argued for many times, there's also emergency vehicle response (finding a way to clear the way for them), and non-emergency special situations such as a marriage or mortuary motorcades (letting them pass, not trying to mix with them). There's also detecting and avoiding muggers, car hijackers, violent crowds, etc., though you might argue for letting the driver disengage in such situations; but such a solution would not work for robotaxis that cannot be disengaged. EDIT: Decorating maps with such things as school zones, police stations, hospital locations, etc., would be useful to the ai for speed control as well as knowing where to go in case of the driver having been shot or having had a stroke. Decorating maps with max speed on all streets would help the ai know the max speed before seeing a sign. Decorating maps with the numbers of lanes at intersections and turn restrictions on those lanes would help the ai better know what to do when snow is covering the road and road-markings are not visible. I am not arguing for "detailed maps" but rather just for decorations on maps via a decorations overlay. This overlay could be created automatically from driving data, and frequently updated over the air. As such, it could also contain warnings about construction zones, dangerous pot-holes, and other dynamic things.

FSD is borderline science fiction but there is still a lot that it needs before it gets to be "unsupervised". To name just a few... It needs to actually read road signs. Things like no turn on red, it still gets wrong. Needs to combine map data with vision and make the correct legal decisions, not the ones based on video data. Big one for me is emergency vehicles. There are so many required interactions and laws around how to interact with emergency vehicles that are ignored. School buses is another one. The fact that we're getting down to these almost fringe scenarios is amazing, but I still see it being 3 to 4 years away along with at least one more hardware refresh (more powerful MCU, more camera angles, higher resolution, longer range cameras and maybe LIDAR (better low-viz resolution). Nice vid!

@@Mrrickyboy41 Yeah, that was the "maybe" portion of my comment. In fairness, all technology was too expensive at one point. The LIDAR package today is far too cumbersome. The thing is now he has the Largest Supercomputer in the world - thanks to NVDA. Nick's needing to speed up when the car was slowing down for no reason was processed and noted by the Big Data and I would not be surprised if that Supercomputer is automatically figuring out where FSD went wrong ( self-correcting for the next time). The max speed is set to 85 because you didn't set the Max speed offset (left it by default 40%) and because FSD is not available above 85 mph. Change the max speed offset setting in Autopilot and you'll be OK (in 5% increments). This way you have control over the max speed on the roads (city and highway).

On a 65 mph it goes up to 75 mph and if I want more, I just use the right scrolling button to upgrade the speed. And it will keep that set speed for every road that has the 65 mph speed during the driving. The 50 mph will have 58 mph max speed. And so on.
@Mr.CEO8882 ай бұрын
@@voldar70My right scroll button doesn’t control the speed anymore and I can’t figure out why not? Any suggestions?

@ it does control the speed but only when you see the Max speed appearing in blue in line with the FSD icon (top left corner). But for that to occur you need to set the Max speed offset to either 10% or 15%. If you let it at 40% the Max speed will never show up.
@voldar702 ай бұрын
@@Mr.CEO888 for those who were complaining about the FSD speeding too much above the speed limit, with this update there is no longer the case. No more 50 mph on 35 mph zones, unless you chose to go 40% above the max speed.

12..5.6.3, is the 1st version of FSD that I've tested and I actually felt relaxed. while using it This version actually felt completely natural on the highway changing lanes appropriately, and not endangering other drivers when doing lane changes, speed modulation was pretty darn good. Acceleration from stops seemed greatly improved. I need far more driving than I've had with it, but this is the 1st version that I'd actually consider subscribing to. FSD and Nav seem to be problematic though. I've never been impressed with FSD/NAV routing, but this version seems to have regressed. NAV routing sometimes makes no sense at all. It will be interesting to see how FSD works when it rains or snows. I also want to see if Tesla has put any effort into pothole avoidance. Living in New England, we're just beginning "pothole" season, and some of our potholes are suspension-breaking

My Model 3 will slow down on Saturdays at school zones when it sees the speed sign for the school zone.

Just an intervention. I'm in a 2018 M3P and I can't wait for speed profiles for 50mph+.
