Solid improvement, and yielding to "jaywalkers" is a good move because in a dense city you should expect people to want to cross the street without walking half a mile to the nearest intersection... @Xanthopteryx3 жыл бұрын
@@datpmf Yes, the tech is cool, but Tesla does not handle it well at all. And now a bunch of companies are doing autonomous vehicles in different stages and areas. Waymo is one of the most known, but we also have Mobileye, BYD, Xpeng, Volvo, Mercedes, ..and many many more. We have since many years back an some autonomous buses here in Sweden that are used to learn more about how it works, and how it does not work. And there are trucks on the way too that will drive certain stretches autonomously. Tesla has done a lot of nice things, and was previously ahead in many areas. Now they are falling behind, both when it comes to BEV in general but also this AI stuff. People have no idea of what it takes to have a computer drive a car, and that is sad because this is why people believe in all the bullshit that Elon and company comes out with in Twitter and other areas. Everyone that paid huge amount of money for a so called Full Self Driving Tesla, thinking it will be Level 4 (let alone Level 5 - just forget it - WILL NOT HAPPEN!) have been scammed. Big time. But Tesla got some money for it. See it as a donation for tech research. You are onto something interesting there with how human handles things. It is really Really REALLY amazing how the brain works (NO! Machine learning/AI does NOT work as the brain, nor does ANY neural network in the computer world - not even close! - There are similarities but then it ends). You see a car on the side. HOW on earth do you know that it is a parked car that you should go around? You see a person walking at the side of the road. HOW do you know the person is not going over the road now? You see a speed limit sign "80 km/h" and you are like... naaa... it is around 40 or 50 km/h here. Not 80. That sign is wrong/fraud/fake. The speed sign is totally covered in snow and you are like "Probably around 80-90 km/h on this road" You see a STOP sign dressed as Santa, and yet.. you know it is a STOP sign. You see a stop sign on the side of the road and you are like, no way - that is someone just fooling around. Not a valid stop sign. Snow and rime covers a lot a traffic direction sign (with names and other information on, so you know where to go). Only parts of the letters and words are visible. Yet, you probably know what most of it says. (just like this image: sarcasticresonance.files.wordpress.com/2013/12/moby_top_0-5.png ) You see a completely new sign with symbol on, and you probably know what it means... Take this bunch of Swedish warning traffic sign as an example. I bet you roughly understand most of them (if not all?): www.transportstyrelsen.se/sv/vagtrafik/Vagmarken/Varningsmarken/ But... HOW?! How on earth does this work?! How is this possible in our brain? I am REALLY, VERY, intrigued by this!

Not really, as a driver knowing that area, you’d directly choose the correct lane immediately. And I bet, Tesla is going to add reading of "bus lane only" road markings at some point, thus fixing this, anyways.

As a driver you're supposed to watch where you're heading. You're also supposed to know if it's a single or double turn lane so you never accidentally take the outer lane from an inner turn lane and push someone off the road..

This is exactly the problem. Autonomous driving isn't like trying to solve a game of chess. There's basic "rules of the road" however there's multiple areas through every town where these "rules" can change on the fly, or there's some quirk in layout (bus lanes) that requires adaptation.

Impressive, question if I rent FSD on my next road trip in our 2020 Model Y, will it perform like the BETA minus the sexy graphics, or is the subscription FSD something else? Thanks
@AIAddict3 жыл бұрын
Subscription FSD (without Early Access Program / Beta) will only enable stoping / starting at red lights and stop signs. And FSD will work while traveling in a straight line on well lane marked roadways The current subscription will not allow your vehicle to make any turns, follow navigation nor will it turn at forks in the road. Meaning it will work, but you will have to manually take over for all turns and forks. FSD Subscription will not work on suburb streets with no lane markings.
