Sitting here with a bowl full of spaghetti a la carbonara and a good nail video to watch - can life get any better? Btw - I am *SOOOOOO* going to replicate this design tomorrow! Even being a DIY-er I have 2 topcoats. The one I reserve for glitter, I'll put a little drop of glitter polish on top of the bottle, that way I don't get them confused. Only takes a minute and saves me money lol

To get faster I breakdown each part of the service and put a timer ⏲️ on my station. For example the "cuticle prep". I try to beat my "best time" with each client. Once I'm consistantly staying within my pre-determined timing I've set for myself I move on to another part of the service I can improve my time on. Sticking to the same routine has also helped me immensely to pick up my speed.

Gorgeous set! I love the pigment of the gel polish! I use a different brand at work and the colours can take about 3/4 layers of picky 5.. so it takes me about 45 minutes-1 hr for a set of gel polish nails.. but that’s just because of how many layers I have to do

It’s a massive impact on time and it does kind of make the nail bulky. To get that Opacity of black with the brand I use at work it takes about 3-4 layers 5 if your being picky

Her cuticles are perfect but most clients have cuticles and ask to give a mini mani (to soak and nip cuticles) ...what would you do if someone has horrible cuticles? Would you just drill and put polish on like you just did just curious

True some may need more maintenance however when doing enhancements gel polish, gel or acrylic the nails need to be as dry and dehydrated as possible so soaking the nails prior would cause lifting problems. You would perform a dry mani and encourage them to come back minimum bi-weekly to upkeep the cuticles.

@@youngnailsincI never have a problem with lifting even if I soak just enough to do the cuticles but trust me I'd rather do it all with the drill . It's just that some clients, if they've been to someone else that has done that they want you to do the same process even if you explaine to them that they shouldn't soak so I just charge more if they insist on it 😜

at my work we aren't allowed to use electric files so we have to prep the nail with blue cross and buffer (soo annoying) so for me it takes about 30 min for regular gel application.

Yes, it's a glitter press so you press the glitter into the tacky layer of cured gel.

I tried to recreate this look today (my first glitter press) but the glitter didn’t stick as well to my color and base coat like this video. I used conversion base and top. Does that not have a tacky enough disputation layer?

When doing a glitter press, try curing the gel for only 30 seconds. This will leave a little more of a tacky surface for the glitter to adhere to. Also, make sure that you dip your brush into the glitter and then to the nail, back to the glitter and back to the nail. If you try to get all the glitter on the brush to the nail in one press, this may pick up the gel onto the brush and not leave it on the nail for the glitter to adhere to (it can also clog your brush if too much gel gets on it).

@@chc717 You don't file off the polish or top coat when you do this. It is only to smooth out the sides and free edge. To me, and my clients capping the free edge is a must when it comes to looks of the finished manicure. And it really doesn't take extra time to do it. Try doing one hand capped and the other not capped abd see which you like the best. 😊

Hi Tracy & Habib! I noticed that Tracy’s arbor band has been used, not sure if just for demos or on other clients but I was always taught to use a new arbor band for each new client. There isn't a specific amount of time as everyone works as different speeds. We always say work on technique first and then the speed will come.

It's not necessary to cap with Mani Q and PB! It's only necessary for aesthetics but not longevity.

I protien bond the whole nails every time and I soak my clients nails every time and those babies are off within 5 min. I file the top layer then I wrap with foil and cotton soaked in acetone and then I wrap the hands with wet hot towels ands when I come back in 5 min those babies are ready to remove.

When you apply any artificial product (acrylic, gel, gel polish, or traditional polish) you do need to leave a slight space between the product and the cuticle and sidewall for it to adhere properly to the nail and not get lifting. When you see nails done on video, it looks farther away than it really is because of the camera magnification.

In this video, she cleans up the cuticles as part of her prep and then she does her shaping at the end. By shaping at the end, you can get a crisper shape and also smooth out any glitter pieces that may not be completely sealed in. As for the rest of the manicure service, wait until after filing to nip any loose cuticles so you don't accidentally catch them with the file and cause bleeding and any other add on's (exfoliation, massage, paraffin, etc) should be done after the gel polish so the oils do not interfere with the adhesion of the gel polish,
