Nice boat BigB. Regarding the left driveline shaking; try it without the prop, but with that prop nut. I guess it would still shake. Most likely that prop nut is not centered well. These are not worth much. Better use a lock nut! Just my advice 😎

Found the issue, it was the bullet nut outta balance, she's good to go now c-mon

love the maintenance videos! i use to kind of slap my boats together at one point, when i finished my 6s 1000mm long mono hull i first ran the boat in a big dirty river near my house, first pass an it spat the 5mm flex shaft out to the bottom of the river an i watched the current of the river start taking it, stupidly i jumped in, got the boat an got back out, never again 😂 also took months to find another 5mm flex shaft to fit, now runs a shaft saver and haven't had an issue since

Nice boat. I used steering cable boots to keep the water out, and a water block on the steering servo to keep it cool. The water block on servo is a huge upgrade.

Awesome bruv, I found when I was setting up the push pull steering it would always bind and the servo would always fight to get back to neutral. Tried lubricants but just couldn’t get any more play on them, looking forward to seeing it run bruv 🤙

After the servo tray and one battery tray broke loose in my carbon-kevlar Animal II, I used epoxy and glass microspheres on the seems, trays, motor mounts, etc. I spent a lot of time hoping to ironclad it and then it flipped and ripped the rear mount of the outdrive out of the hull. I had Bill build mine with Castle Hydras but we could not get the 2200 Kv motors to not cog at full throttle with the 6 pole motors so went back to the 200A Hobbywings. The servo in mine also made a lot of noise. I had many issues with my original boat. Bill replaced the boat with his personal boat but I haven’t use it much yet. Bill scolded me for reinforcing various components of the original boat, using QS8s instead of EC8s, and using a plastic break away bolt in rudder when I sent the original boat back. I wouldn’t have reinforced things if they had not broken and here in Florida, there are many turtles so rudder needs to break free. My boat had inward spinning props like my Geicos. They are nice boats but not as robust as I had hoped for the money

Glad you are reinforcing lock-tighting everything. I didn’t go through my Animal when I first received it because I had a custom built and assumed things were lock-lighted. The rudder came apart on the first run and caused a bit of damage. Bill told me not to lock tight anything but I did exactly as you did in this video but was scolded for it when he received my damaged boat. Not a bash on Bill… just learning lessons others can draw from your and my experience

Amazing how similar the Animal Cat is to my Zonda. A few differences. My water pickups are flush with the bottom of the boat towards the back. 4 pickups… each motor and ESC have their own.
@IRONCLADRC9 ай бұрын
I like how the zonda has the quad thruhull pick-ups, probably more efficient
@RCBoatBitz4 ай бұрын
You realize these and zondas are all made side by side at tfl factory right? All hardware is made by tfl as well

Looking forward to seeing how you mount the GPS for speed runs. I've read that they wont pickup a signal through carbon fiber.

I always use fine emory cloth on the full length of the flex cable while spinning it with a drill. Except the area that goes into your collet or coupler. Makes a huge difference on the amount of drag and wear of the teflon. Sand the cable till it feels nice and smooth to your fingers when spun with the drill.
@IRONCLADRC2 ай бұрын
Me too, been doing this for years, cables come rather rough from the factory! All great minds think alike!

Awesome setup. Many thanks for the video. I'm sure these vids take a lot to film and upload. Did this boat come with those 4082's 2200KV's and ESC's or was that an upgrade from the seller ? I was watching another video with this same boat ( animal ) and the ESC's shorted I think because of the conductive nature of the carbon fibre tray holding the ESC's. So just wondering are there any issues with the ESC trays and or the ESC's ? Great vid as I intend one day to graduate to something like this. 👍👍
