It's a frugal mindset that allows people to become wealthy. Warren Buffett (Berkshire Hathaway) has been one of the top wealthiest people on the planet nearly his whole life, but he still lives in the modest house he bought when he was first married. He started with a little furniture store. Clark started with a little travel agency. Their own personal value systems is how they managed to become so wealthy. And they both taught their children the same value systems in order to not "spoil" them with entitled attitudes. Mr. Buffett's kids have always known that they will not inherit any of his wealth and will have to make it on their own. I think that's a really good thing.

On the subject of car financing: Clark's advice to check with Credit Unions remains legit. We contacted our Credit Union when the Mrs suddenly needed a new-to-her car. The Credit Union offered us such a low rate that the dealership's finance guy didn't even try to match it 😊

I have State Farm auto insurance. I have a gadget on my window to monitor me. I call them dings against me. Speed, a ding, etc. Here is my problem with this. I live in a neighborhood where the exits are onto busy highways with 45 mph speed limits. Therefore, every time I exit, I must speed up to get into the line of traffic. DING! I get a ding for acceleration. If someone cuts in front of me, DING for braking. I get zero dings for talking on the phone as I do not, and very few dings for speeding. But I cannot go anywhere without dings. My rate goes up and up. We drive probably 20,000 miles a year on three cars. I HATE this and changed to this company for a lower rate.

I feel your pain from expensive insurance but I'm switching AWAY from State Farm - who I've been with for over 30 yrs. I have all the good driver and no claims bells and whistles, but the rates have gone higher every month for a year. When I complained, my agent suggested the DING meter thingy. I was offended, as they had it on paper what a great customer I've been. THEY SENT IT ANYWAY and it went into the trash. Tell your agent to pull that thing and delete the app that goes with it. Ugh. We all need good luck. Best. Thanks.

My home is worth $350,000, maybe a bit more. It would rent for $2000/month max. The old rules are just old, not applicable today.

The carry on only thing is real! I went to Europe for 19 days (Iceland, Czech Republic and Denmark). I took just a few shirts, mostly merino wool, 3 pairs of underwear, also merino wool, wool socks and 2 pairs of pants. I washed my socks and underwear daily and the shirts and pants when needed in the bathroom sink. I had everything I needed and loved only having my 5 kg backpack to carry through the airports. It can be done!

Thank you for explaining how GM drivers can opt out of automaker spying. I just purchased a Hyundai. How do I disable the flow of private information to insurers?

Air travel just sounds so miserable, lol. Some day I may have to subject myself to it if I go outside the US, but if my vacation spot is within 8-10 hours I just take a few extra days off and drive it and enjoy the entire experience. Can take your time, enjoy the sights and side trips to parks and overlooks, cool small towns, good food, etc. Plus more room for souvenirs, lol.

I agree totally. I’ve been traveling on business for 50 years and would rarely ever travel for “pleasure.” If that’s pleasure, I’ll take a pass.

Don't fall for a solar consultant's sales pitch of telling you never again to pay for power bills. They're basically gouging your wallet. It could cost you upwards of 40,000 dollars. Instead of over building the system that could cost 40,000 dollars. Build a big enough 120v system to offset the cost of EV charging or enough to cut the power bill in 1/2. Building a 240v system is where it can costs you 40,000 dollars. A simple 120v 5,000 to 10,000 dollars solar with battery system can save you roughly 50 to 100 dollars per month. DIYers can cut the cost by 1/2. Don't forget to submit the Federal 30% credit at end of the year.

Yes, 1% is massive and WAY beyond ridiculous. If you're happy to just keep giving away huge piles of money for zero in return, then that's not fixable.

I remember hearing (true or not) that some of the wealthiest individuals wore Timex rather than Rolex. After all, if they spent a fortune on conspicuous, expensive items, they would no longer have one. I am sure I will be wealthy some day because I don't even wear a watch.

Rent factor DSCR loans uses 1-1.25 as a ratio. If a lender is not willing to invest in a rental flowing less than 1 to 1 why should you?

I’m Michael and the one who wrote the Clark Stinks about the solar panels. Well… you didn’t really answer me. I live in a state (Florida) where the power companies failed in their efforts to limit net metering, yet the power companies are ripping out forests where our endangered Florida panthers live. There’s only a few dozen of them left, so having FPL or Duke Power ripping out forests to build hundreds of acres for solar panels is unconscionable. I will be getting the panels on my roof as others should as well

Make sure you check in with your home insurance company on the panels. I've been hearing of some having issues insuring with the panels as of Feb 2024. I'm unsure why, and it may be worth investigating.
@InCaveEntertainment
@InCaveEntertainment 7 ай бұрын
@@erikadragich3941 - yes thanks. Insurance companies in Florida by and large found during Hurricane Ian that solar panels actually helped preserve the roofs and O’d have to say that’s true - I didn’t see one panel that had come lose from a single home. Since then, the ones who didn’t allow panels before are now adding them, or for some reason, charging an extra fee (usually $100) which I’m unsure why

The only thing about renting is the rent keeps going up - often. As soon as there's a big rental repair the landlord will not hesitate to hike the rent to cover those costly repairs. Landlord has a financial struggle guess who'll fund their poor spending savings and habits? When we first got married we lived like gypsies. We were moving around all the time because every single landlord kept hiking the rent. One year we rented an apartment for 1200. a mon, by the end of that year we were at 2175.oo, the 175 was for parking. The toilet wouldn't even flush!!! We had to use a bucket of water. The refrigerator was so old it was the type with an open tiny freezer that needed to be defrosted every two weeks. I didn't even know those things even existed anymore. The parking stalls were so tight our vehicle kept getting hit. Finally buying our home was a huge relief. But of course as a home owner it's another whole burden but at least you know some greedy landlord or corporate isn't using you as their bank.

And of all the insurance companies that GM sold their customers' info to, how many drivers had an actual reduction in their policies? I'm guessing ZERO.

I agree about the comment about saying you can't afford something when it's really a choice, and I think people who aren't able to cover their bills need to have that exact mindset. That they have a choice on what they spend on everything and I think that's the important lesson! By the way I have made very bad choices in my life and people influenced me to pay for things that I really didn't need or want!

Clark, the amount of virtue signaling by you and Christa gets a little over the top sometime. Remember, not everyone is as privileged as the two of you, and they don’t want to hear about the 593 countries you’ve visited and how you did your laundry in Australia.
