That would be incredibly frustrating. Most programs have an expiration period. All those points or miles are technically a liability on their balance sheet. I assume the expiration period is a way of purging a lot of liability that would just sit there on their books. Delta seems to be the exception with no expiration date.

I’m sure this has been recommended before but here goes. If only Dave Ramsey would have a Dave Stinks weekly show.

All my Delta points also expired in the same way. But that was 15-20 years ago - maybe they have changed their policy since then.

Most tires on sale on Costco are on sale everywhere else due to manufacture discounts and bundles lol Costco isn’t always a deal. Was microwave shopping and they had it listed at 600 and I shopped everywhere else and they had it for 400

I luckily just caught the email from Marriott that my points will expire. My plan is to buy some points and then use them all up. We had the same experience with Delta, perhaps 15-20 years ago. They suddenly decided points will expire and sent emails informing us. I was able to save mine and my children's as I handled our accounts. My husband, who was the frequent traveler, missed or ignored the email and lost about 100,000 miles. Not long after they reversed that decision and miles no longer expire. Too late for him and now Delta is no longer his preferred airline. Going forward, I plan to frequently use up points as soon as I can, rather than stock pile them and lose them due to corporate sudden change in policy.

I use bimbata laundry detergent sheets and I love them. I have been using about 2 years. I get through amazon. I am not spending more money than liquid. Also no more plastic jugs. I have sent to friends and family as well to get them over hump of trying.

In Marriott’s defense, they do notify you by email when your points are about to expire and they give you options to avoid that happening. I know this because I recently received an email. My balance was low-I donated as many as I could.

Over many decades of dealing with credit card rewards I keep two points in mind. First, rules can change. Even if I know the rules up front they can change without my picking up on it. Second, the number of points I need for a particular reward tends to go up with time. Conclusion: Don't let points build up much and use them as soon as I can.

To Clark: It makes more sense to make *liquid soap* from bar scraps instead of making solid bars from melted scraps. One would need to buy other oils and misc things, also added curing time helping to harden. What's the point?

I tried to buy tires at Costco but they made it impossible to do so. Eventually they lost my tires and it took 3 weeks, 2 phone calls, and a trip to the tire center to get my money back. Never again. Went to Discount Tire and it was smooth as silk.

I tried laundry sheets a few years ago for traveling 🧳 (often there is a washing machine where I stay) and they generally work OK. I did find they don’t work well for really dirty clothes. When I’ve done car camping road trips I’ve both sheets or a smaller jug.

If I die before the breakpoint of getting more for delaying SS, I'm too dead to regret it. While I'm still alive and delaying SS, I'm alive enough to worry about not running out of money. So, for me, delaying is the right choice no matter when I happen to die.

USAA Umbrella policy saved me. A year from my retirement my daughter was involved in an accident while in college. Medical bills for all involved was well over $600k...without that additional insurance I would have lost my house and had to work another decade at least. Good advice Howard!

How about Walmart gas stations where Walmart+ members have to scan a code on the pump to get their discount? Easy to fake and even when legitimate, it may not work while a line of customers behind you are blowing their horns because you are taking too long.

What is the difference in your suggestion to use opt out at this site and doing the same on Equifax, Experian, and Transunion, except for Innovis also be included and an additional requirement to mail them a form afterward. I have already done opt out permanent on the big 3. I have also opted out on mail through opt out mail, but I still get junk, even one I wrote and asked to stop their mail directly. I plan to go by personally as it is local. Also do we need to check Innovis report as well? I have also checked Lexis Nexus/Sage, which showed on my Transunion account. Their contact phone number on Transunion was not Lexis Nexus, but Transunion. The Transunion rep was so confused I went straight to Lexis Nexus for that. My insurance provider had checked them as a source. Is a Lexis Nexus account a benefit or is it best to opt out of them entirely, which is also possible.
