Needs vs wants…one of the most important lessons a parent can teach a child. For spoiled dep in debt adults it is a hard lesson but once you learn it your life will improve forever.

“Core to your life,” that’s an excellent phrase that I’ll start coupling with my standard phrase, “Nice, but not needed.” Nice, but not needed; it’s not core to my life. Thanks, Clark!

Thank you for the great info your show provides! I was driving back from Atlanta back in the 90's listening to your show when you said, if you want to go to Alaska, pull over now and book a flight on Delta's new non stop atl /anchorage flight for something like $350 round trip. Had the best trip on my life! Also have taken your advice on many other great ideas, umbrella insurance, credit freeze, investment advice. Great service you provide.

My car is 21, same clothes. Same shoes and my coat I bought at Kmart 30 years ago! I’m 70 and I never thought life could suck this bad.
@X.MillennialResponder.X18 күн бұрын
Sounds like your frugal. I have the same car for 15 years and never get new clothes unless it rips fact have same coat since high school. Your problem is you need to change your shoes every few years or if you got them in high-quality back, then go to a cobbler every few years. Your feetmust hurt. That’s your problem. Life would suck. Outside of your shoe issue Life is awesome.

Maybe change your perspective. Many people choose to have a 21-year-old car, wear the same clothes, and love life. They believe 'the simpler, the happier.' Keep your chin up! 💚

I like your advice most of the time. But I wish you can reach an audience that is not part of the choir. With you of course being the preacher. As a retiree with income, I once worked for extra money at an airline just for the free travel. First time working with $10 per hour or less employees, I was amazed at the things they would spend money on that they considered needs, that I would just consider wants. But I was also sad that they were having to make a work at two or three jobs just to survive. While the CEO was making $25 million a year. Also since I worked in benefits I was amazed at how many of our employees could not even afford healthcare, which was provided via company subsidy. We do need universal health Care. Oh yeah, our pilots used to get a million dollars when they retired. No separation bonus for the rest of us.

Every single person we reach aren't choir members (you can tell by some of the questions and comments that some Clarkies are at the beginning of their financial freedom journey). But we can reach more non-choir members by sharing the podcast with people who need it. 💚

Ah, a "late" bloomer myself as I'm 10 and 13 years younger than my siblings (I am now 62). It was all good. Felt like an only child pretty much but get/got (sister now deceased, brother is still kicking) along great with them. Our Dad was an engineer and very frugal/wise with money. Brother got the engineering skills but never saved and is still working, I got the money skills and am semi-retired now.

In regard to the airfare mischarge, listen to Clark's advice. "Hanlon's razor is an adage or rule of thumb that states: Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity." I typically replace 'incompetence' for the word 'stupidity' in the quote, but if you think this way it will reduce your level of stress and/or thoughts of retribution and let you get on with living your life. I also hope people think this way in the cases where I fail them.

Yeah until you run out of electric on the interstate someplace 50 mi from the nearest recharge no Ev is a scam... Look at the fires because they produce 5,000 degrees of instant explosive power ... I guess you have $30,000 to throw away every 5 years when it needs a new battery too huh you know what car dealers aren't even accepting them as trade-ins because they know they're all pieces of crap waiting to kill and burn and name and destroy and increase the insurance rates for all of us... We are human beings we do what we do... 8 billion strong you can't have even a billion electric vehicles it will destroy the environment... I guess you don't realize it there's so much silver in those batteries that it will completely deplete the Earth's supply of silver then what... No more solar panels... No more missiles no more weapons of war maybe it is a good idea
