Full SPHERICAL Bushing Upgrade + SPL Arms - E92 M3 Track Car Build Journal Ep.31

It's a slippery slope! Since I have the subframe out, I decided to upgrade all the rubber bushings to ball joints. This includes the bushings for the rear trailing arms and inner spring arms. The SPL Parts already come with sphericals so the guide links and toe links are also upgraded!

Hey Everyone, I wanted to point out that the SPL arm shown at 12:17 is the incorrect part (too short). It is NOT safe to have the rod ends that far extended. SPL is sending me the correct replacement.

I love how you went the same road as me from replacing just $300 subframe bushings to full blown "since im here" now i have a $5500 subframe and driveshaft combo with everything solid mounted,spherical and adjustable, not blown tf out like before with stock bushings and stock arms with seized hardware 😂😂😂. Only thing missing at this point is the vts 4th diff mount.

Becareful with replacing the rear trailing arm. Those are meant to bend during an accident to prevent damage to the rest of the suspension components.

Hi Will! I often search for a given job on youtube before i start and I always find your vids- youre living in the future! haha.. Thanks for the super comprehensive breakdowns man. Question: Have any of your SPL components failed since install? I'm witnessing a Red Pill demystification of their stuff right now in the community. Got the spherical control arm bushings you have here as well, and I'm wondering how theyre holding up? And if you havent heard any of this about SPL, please look into it as it seems their arms in particular present a significant safety issue. Be safe out there, and thanks again!

Yes, unfortunately I did experience a failure with one of the SPL parts not shown in this video. It was a front control arm. I posted a video about it earlier this year which can be found on my channel page if you're interested.

Hey will make sure to change out the titanium lock nuts with some stainless steel ones, I have the full Spl catalogue on mine and I’ve noticed some bolts have gotten loose over time and I’ve even lost a couple.

@@WillsGarageOfficial Honestly I just picked up stainless bolts from Amazon that are the same lengths. You’re going to need 22 short and 4 1” 1/4-20 bolts.

The guide arms at 11:58, what is the use for? I ask because aren't the OEM arms also sealed ball joints with no play?

Only one end has a sealed ball joint. The other has a rubber bushing. You can keep the OEM arm by replacing the rubber with a ball joint, but the SPL arm allows allows more accurate camber adjustment.

Can you run these arms year round (eg seeing some rain/snow)?

It won't hold up in that type of weather since the monoballs aren't sealed.
