What a beautiful site. Back in the 70's and early 80's I was attached to a medium range bomber. The A-6 Intruder VA-34 BLUEBLASTERS. We worked off the JFK-CV67 and later moved over to the Dwight D Eisenhower CVN69 and broke that carrier in brand new. I totally love the nostalgia fleet. That 17 is beautiful. Thank you for sharing and giving me some awesome memories. 😊

A thing of beauty! There's something special about 1930's & 40's technology. Raw, pure human engineering. Something lost in today's all computer based systems and designs.

I'm three generations behind the ones that piloted these. There are a handful of millennials that really appreciate this technology and strive to maintain it. Granted my experience is with cars and my collection consists of some from the 1960's at the earliest, but if I was ever charged with maintaining a piece of history like this, I'd spare no expense in my efforts.

There is no video that does these monsters justice. I witnessed Aluminum Overcast start up and take off. They’re so loud and are the best engines I’ve ever heard run. It’s like 4 supercharged pulling trucks going off at once.

As associated with this 4 engine plane I lived about 10 miles from St.Louis airport as a child. This was 1950's when all commercial planes were same engines as this bomber. I have deep seated memory of the sound these planes made when taking off. The sound was a grand roar.

Years ago, she came to Great Falls, Montana (where I lived at the time). The airport there sits on a butte outside and above the city. My house was a mile or two away across the Missouri River. I was in my house when I heard a loud noise. I went outside and looked over to the airport. Sentimental Journey was spooling up her engines and she was rattling my teeth. When she took off, it was an amazing sight. I listened to planes take off from that airport dozens of times a day. But when a B-17 takes off, you really take notice. She sounded like nothing else. Unforgettable!

I used to talk to the pilot who flew this plane out of Falcon Field in Mesa AZ back in 1985 when I lived there next door almost. He was going to take me and a couple others up, when on a practice flight, it had to belly land, because a landing gear never came down. I moved a year or two later and never got to go up. I knew they rebuilt her. I always wished I would have gotten a ride. I'm 65 now and live in Oregon. Does anyone remember her in AZ?

Nothing. The soldiers then had no choice. It was called the Draft. republiCONs figured out the Draft made wars deeply unpopular. No Draft all Volunteer. So AssHolx rumsfeld can blame the troops for the Army’s lack of preparedness for a conflict. And how about tube head holding up Military promotions because he like all republiCONs want to control a woman’s body and tell them what kind of health care they should receive. So why should my Sons put their life on the line for nazi cuddling CONservstives who’s OWN children won’t join the military? I would love to hear your answer. Oh and remember many CONservatives in the US up to 1940 fully embraced hitler and his cause. 95% today still do. Remember they tried to foment a Coup against Roosevelt. It was thwarted because the General they wanted to make the leader of the country was a true patriot unlike republiCONs today who went all in on another Coup attempt on Jan 6. Depending what pole you look at 65-75% of republiCONs think there was nothing wrong with Jan 6. I’ll be waiting for a Thoughtful Response
