Wouldn’t not getting her glasses be a form of abuse/neglect seeing as it negatively impacted her quality of life?
@zoe9190Ай бұрын
Not getting glasses for a long period, especially if you need them as a kid can actually cause more damage to the eyes. Neglect in childhood can mean more medical problems when you can leave them
@TaleToastАй бұрын
Not getting her glasses definitely feels like neglect. It’s shocking how something so crucial for her well-being was ignored!

You're absolutely right! Not getting her glasses definitely feels like neglect when it was affecting her quality of life so badly.

Ironic that, despite OP's eyesight problems, the parents were the ones completely blind to the real problem.

Pride goes before a fall, in this case, it's daughter who will fall while that parents let her go blind. My God!
@TaleToastАй бұрын
The irony is so real here. The parents were blind to the real issue while their daughter was literally struggling to see!
@SagasofbetrayalАй бұрын
Exactly! The irony is almost too much. They were so 'blind' to the real issue while ignoring her actual eyesight problems.

I hate that Ryan the older brother is taking a semester off to help. It's so easy to slip through the cracks and not go back. I'm hoping that as soon as the new semester starts he goes back to his classes 🤞🏾

Exactly! It’s so reckless to risk her vision like that. You’d think after one family member suffered, they wouldn’t make the same mistake again.
@SagasofbetrayalАй бұрын
Agreed. It’s hard to understand how someone could stand by and let all that happen without standing up for their kids.
@trenae77Ай бұрын
Mommy Dearest is a victim of emotional abuse who does not have an outlet for clear thinking. Her focus is narrowed to preserving her family and blinking her to the details.
@firerosenight6937Ай бұрын
Those parents rather have a blind kid then admit they aren't perfect, and now are acting like mean Hollywood popular girls towards their own kid. Pathetic. I hope OP and her little brother can get the hell out of there soon.

The OP's dad's gambling problems almost tore his own family apart but his unwillingness to get help almost made it happen, let's hope that he decides to get his addiction under control before it's too late in the long run.

Wow, the moment when you found out your dad had a gambling problem was such a turning point. I can’t believe all that stress was hidden behind something so serious!

Most parents would do anything to make sure their children’s medical needs are met. Her parents do not have their priorities straight.

Isn't a school nurse a mandatory reporter? Yes, they *ARE* bad people. Good people don't gaslight their own children. Good people don't bully their own children. Good people love and protect their children. Children everywhere: Omerta is not a family value. If you are at risk, report it. I hope this is fiction.
@spoosieoopsie161624 күн бұрын
Part of it isn't. When my mom was 14, her vision began to change. She went to the school nurse, who called my grandmother two separate times. The second time, my grandmother "broke down" and told the nurse that, while she would be willing to take my mom to the optometrist, Mom's stepfather would never allow it. The nurse asked Mom where her stepfather worked. When Mom told her, the nurse called the machine shop where Papa worked. When she was able to speak with him, poor Papa had NO idea about the situation! He was VERY confused. My grandmother had told him absolutely nothing! When the nurse suggested State-funded programs for free glasses, Papa exploded! He asked the nurse to make an appointment with an optometrist and to call HIM with the date and time. Papa took off of work to take Mom in to get her glasses. By the time Papa became involved, Mom's eyesight was so bad that she wore "Coke-bottle" glasses all of her life. Her vision was just good enough to not be classified as legally blind.

@@spoosieoopsie1616 Your mother deserved better. At least her stepfather stepped up and acted like a real father. When I write "i hope it's fiction.", I have a sinking feeling that it might be. There's enough scary stuff in the news that I can't be sure.

I come from a poor family. We still are. Only a little better now. Vice, any vice, is not an excuse to get out of financial misery. It only exacerbates one's woes and wreaks havoc in the family.

Even in Russia is the healthcare for children for free what is it a third world country or something why are the states so bad. You have the best doctors in the world best education yet the government doesn’t get that healthy kids means more working class people who will pay taxes and ensure your retirement
@trenae77Ай бұрын
So why do so many handicapped Russian kids end up adopted by American families? Just because something is free and readily accessible does not mean it is good. Anything but!
@pinksnailgreenfrog5518Ай бұрын
As someone from the US it's because health care isn't about the care like it is in other countries it's about how much money you can get someone to pay. Our healthcare is a billion dollar industry and pays so much to gov to keep it the way it is

Kid, listen to Linkin Park "lies,greed, misery" and you'll be able to relate. You can tell your parents that they " did it to yourself" and it's true. They are garbage and deserve no contact when you move out at 18.

this would be such a non-story (the eyesight part) in literally every european country. americans and their "healthcare system" get nothing but bewildered pity (and sympathy) from over here.
